Kenya's Elephants Send Text Messages

To help fight crop raiding in Kenya, officials are placing mobile phone SIM cards in elephant collars and setting up virtual "geofences" using a global positioning system. When elephants get too close to farmers' crops, rangers receive text messages and head off to redirect the animals' movements.
