Sen. John Ensign's parents gave the Nevada Republican's mistress and her family $96,000 after they learned of the affair, an attorney for the senator says. The statement comes a day after Cindy Hampton's husband told a Las Vegas television show that Ensign paid her more than $25,000 after she stopped working for his campaign.

Make way for turtles! Officials say a runway at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport was shut down temporarily when at least 78 turtles emerged from a nearby bay and crawled onto the tarmac. Flight delays of up to 1 1/2 hours ensued before the reptiles were removed from the runway.
