Early Tuesday morning, a lone Seattle cop got out of his vehicle and spotted the most wanted man in the Northwest. When Maurice Clemmons refused to surrender and reached for his gun, Benjamin L. Kelly fired at least two rounds into him. The shooting brought an end to Clemmons' two-day saga of mayhem, which was aided by family and friends.

A provision in the stimulus bill that helps cover the cost of COBRA insurance for workers laid-off during the recession is set to expire. The plan cut health care costs by 65 percent for workers who recently lost their job, but it will end on Dec. 31. Without the government assistance, tens of thousands more Americans may lose their health insurance.
