Seneg68gts34006:01 AMJul 13 2009And this info is important why? So we can throw the river a birthday party? The "scientists" who have bestowed this revelation upon us are making huge money and at the same time are "creating" ways to place seeds of fear in the feeble minds of most of humanity. By the way, most scientists are liberals and stand firmly behind their great leader, the White House buffoon, Obastard . *************** Hey numbnuts, 1. Scientists don't make "huge money" (although by your standards they might-they do make more than minimum wage). 2. Geology is important for many reasons, but one really important one is to locate oil reserves...I'm not sure why that makes you afraid except small-minded people are usually afraid of the unknown. Get an education. 3. What does a scientists political persuasion have to do with anything (other than your prejudice)?

Americanjoe200502:27 PMJul 13 2009I imagine the Amazon took it's current shape in the days of Noah and the great flood----not 2 million years ago. Requiring a year for the waters to completely subside from the land tells me there was a lot of churning and mixing of soil and new formations. That explains the discovery of seashells in the hills of Tennessee. Oh BTW, for you non-believers, the Ark has been seen on Ararat. AND please explain God's RAINBOW ************* See, that's where we part ways...you "imagine" that something is true, and scientists go out and look for evidence. A rainbow is simply light refracting through water...it isn't magically painted in the sky. That's a beautiful story, but you can see rainbows in your sprinkler water when the light is at the correct angle. There are seashells in hills because the rock formed in an ancient ocean, was lithified and through plate tectonics, the rock is now exposed...again, no magic flood.

Americanjoe2005 SAYS:"...I imagine the Amazon took it's current shape in the days of Noah and the great flood..." you can imagine a lot of nonsense, but its of no value to anyone. The difference between relgion and science is that relgion is nothing but the musings and speculations of someone's imagination, in the case of christainity, goat farmers that lived over 2000 years ago. Science by contrast, leads to real understanding, and understanding leads to technology that improves the quality of our lives. If you want to reject science, at least be honest about it and reject the associated technology too. Get off the internet, and go back to counting your goats and sheep with a bag of pebbles.

Or maybe there's just a lot you don't know. Sounds like you haven't done much, if any research on the origin of life, Evolution or the Big Bang Theory. Go to the library and get yourself a couple books. When people make decisions about such important things based on the knowledge they currently possess and not the knowledge that's available to them, they come to these types of conclusions. No explanation makes sense but oh well. Science requires proof or in the case of theories at least evidence. Which is why I choose Science over religion. I don't claim to know a lot about the Universe but I will claim to know more than someone who lived 2000 years ago.

I will put a BOW in the sky" Scripture. Now get on the computer and figure that one out. The Bible does not require scientific explanation----But scientists will dream up anything in an effort to dis-prove it.

Seneg68gts340-- Most scientists are liberals (your words) because they are highly intelligent and logical. The same is true of college professors. Having an IQ of 100, which is average, just isn't good enough to understand complex issues.

Mitch Indy05:01 AMJul 13 2009Who the hell paid for that study??? I hope it wasn't American tax dollars. Just how did that study benefit mankind?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~HB: Typical anti-intellectual neo-luddite. Didn't read the article, the words were probably too long, but still insists on complaining about it. It was paid for by Petrobras, dummass.---Not to mention the fact that this rock is all we got, understanding as much about how it works is critical to our survival. There is no such thing as useless knowledge.
