ACCRA, Ghana -Never mind that Barack Obama has never set foot in Ghana before. This country has a message for the American leader when he makes his first trip to sub-Saharan Africa as president this weekend: "Welcome Home."

Obama has the United States on his front burner. Why don't the critics put Africa on their front burners. Africans need to get out of dependent mode and handle their own affairs. Until this happens, most African nations will continue to have a hard time moving forward
