"I don't regret it at all, I just wish it would have happened in 10 years rather than right now," Palin, 18, said of becoming a teenage mom. Palin talked to Fox News' Greta Van Susteren in Alaska.
"It's not something to strive for ... I'm not the first person it's happened to and I'm not going to be the last."
Asked about her views on teaching abstinence, which her mother, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, advocates, Bristol said, "it's not realistic at all."
The teen's pregnancy was revealed in August, just after her mother was chosen to be the vice presidential running mate for Republican Sen. John McCain.
Palin said it "doesn't matter" what her mother's view on abortion are, "it was my choice to have the baby."
The governor popped in on the interview carrying her first grandchild.

"I'm proud of her to want to take on an advocacy role and let other girls know that it's not the most ideal situation, but certainly you make the most of it," Gov. Palin said.
Bristol described breaking the news of her pregnancy to her parents as "harder than labor."
"I couldn't even say it, I was just sick to my stomach and so finally my best friend just blurted it out."
Palin said she and the baby's father, Levi Johnston, plan to marry "eventually" but are focused on getting through school right now. She said Johnston sees the baby every day and is a "really hands-on dad."

Some people are not affected by hormones They don't have to fight sexual addiction. But if people are fighting natures need for them to procreate as soon s possible it is not easy for them to be abstinent. Birth control must be taught. I don't beleive in birth control pills but a method to stop sperm and egg from meeting must be augmented. It is not 100% but helps.

As a 27 year old virgin, I agree with Bristol. Why can't we teach both? I was taught abstinence and sexual education. By keeping me informed, my parents let me know the choice was in my hands (where it should be) and the consequences of any action I would take as well as the best ways to protect myself. No one is questioning if abstinence works or not-duh. But for the people who tout abstinence-do you remember how hard it is?!? Believe me-hormones can suck. And it only gets worse as you get older. People have to realize that kids are going to make their own choices. We can only give them as much information as we can and hope they follow through. It's a double edged sword. If you only teach abstinence, you will sleep well thinking you are fulfilling your moral obligations...but more kids with contract diseases and get pregnant because they don't know how to protect themselves. I also feel that by teaching me preventative measures my parents showed that they trusted me to ma...

Abstinence teaching "is not realistic, at all". THAT IS THE ONLY REALLY EFFECTIVE METHOD OF BIRTH CONTROL. It isn't "realistic" when some of today's young people REFUSE to listen to the advice of their parents. THEY THINK THEY KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR THEMSELVES, though their mistakes prove how wrong they are. As far as the media, and public "hounding" this couple, THEY DON'T HAVE TO AGREE TO THE PUBLICITY. They must be getting money for the "interviews" and THAT MONEY is more important to them than their privacy. During the Presidential campaign, VERY LITTLE WAS SAID TO THEM OR ABOUT THEM AND THEIR PRIVATE LIVES. Their parents, and they, themselves appear to SEEK OUT PUBLICITY.

I do not understand why this couple is getting hit in the face w/all the rocks of publicity just because they did what millions of other teenagers do, "explore" the realm of nature. Was or is it right, NO, but do they have to be hounded in the public eye & be made spectibles of just because they, or Bristol is a child of a "public servant", NO...There are girls in every city, town, or community, that has a baby out of wedlock, do they get run thru the fires, NO, so why does the media feel this young lady needs to be put in the limelight? they need to find a REAL story to cover & leave these kids alone to build their relationship, be parents, & live a normal life.....

Nobody over the age of twenty should forget that they once were teen-agers and fighting the hormone years. Ma Nature intends for the race to continue and makes plenty of incentive for it to do so. Young parents usually make the best parents, (according to Ma Nature) but our culture works against that happening too early. Leave this young couple alone. Keep the news off their backs and let them repair what was a mistake from the beginning.Perhaps it will end happily after all. The couple are not helping by still having interviews and such. Do they want to stay in the limelight??

Abstinence works all the time for those that use it unlike condom. The young lady did not use abstinence that is why it did not work for her. There are millions of young ladies that use abstinence and I am yet to find one that it has failed. So in my opinion Bristol cannot fault something she never used.

I AM SORRY !! If anyone has read any of the trash I have written on these AOL comment boxes then you know how mad I have gotten. I now realize that AOL does this on purpose to rev up shallow closed minds like me until now. I fell victim to it but now I see. I have now stopped writting my views and opinions on these things because there is no end to it. I find myself lying and being hurtful to folks I do not know for which for the first time I can stop. Dont want anything else from AOL other than the space left here to say again, sorry.

I said from the beginning that the father would not marry her, it had to lok good for the el;ection. all Levi wanted was a good time and got it so what does the mother who is against abortion and a good christian have to say now, the biggest mistake that MCCane made was to try to get a femail to beat Hillery but got screwed what do you expect from a republican
