From KMumford08: The Essence Music festival is open to anyone who wants to celebrate predominately soul/ Black music...that is often overlooked by white america. == Thank you. Besides, I never hear anyone raising all this commotion when Latinos and Asians have festivals and ceremonies honoring their own. There's nothing wrong with celebrating the cultural contributions that people of various ethnicities or nationalities have made to make this this nation what it is today.

You people are ignorant....White people already have their own celebrations that Black people (and other nationalities) aren't necessarily asked or invited to attend....let's try the RNC, or the grand ole opry, or every little county fair in America! The Essence Music festival is open to anyone who wants to celebrate predominately soul/ Black music...that is often overlooked by white america. There will never be a melting pot with views like yours!

Reverse discrimination at its best. Can you imagine how indignant people of any race would be if white people had an event such as this? Most white people wouldn't even attend such an event since it is inherantly racist. If we do not learn from our past, are we not destined to repeat it? Or does that mean that only white people can't repeat it but other races can?
