Villaraigosa: Yes, Mr. Jackson's music reached millions of peoples world wide, SO? So is the Jackson family going to give all the millions he made off this music to the public? Mr. Jackson, did not do anything that great, for the people at large, he was even ashamed of his own race, charged TWICE, with child molestation, didn't learn the first time! Yeah, he was worthy of L. A. spending 1.4 million dollars on, what was the cost of the permits for his, I would like to say final show, but the family has seen fit to make this not so.

Sharpton, Jesse and the money hungry Jackson family should pay, after all they are raking in the buck hitting the talk shows. To me this behavior MJ's family is displaying is more insulting to MJ's memory, than what Sharpton was bitching about.

I agree that most of the people basking in the spotlight of this spectacle should put their money where their mouth is and pay the city back. I am sick of hearing and seeing idiots trying to make MJ into a super hero! Why not ask them to donate on national TV. Then you will see just how many are sinsere!

I'm getting REALLY TIRED of hearing about this m.j. crap. Now they want the American people to help pay for his memorial service, OMG.. we are in a recession for God's sake. People are having trouble paying their bills, feeding their family WTF. Us New Yorkers have a senate chamber that is worthless. Fighting over menial things... FOR HEAVENS SAKE GROWUP!! Jackson has MANY RICH friends that can afford to pay for this go ask them. Don't burden us with this: if you can't afford to do something DON't DO IT!!!

i am sorry, michael jackson was a great entertainer, BUT in this economy there is ABSOLUTELY no reason the taxpayers should have had to pick up that tab!! maybe all of his "friends" that attended, performed and spoke should have dug into their own pockets and footed the bill!!! God knows most of them spend that a year on hair and beauty products alone!! they should have passed the hat!!!
