(July 11) - A modest Colorado mountain might just be the luckiest place in the world.
Ladybugs have inundated a remote neighborhood on a peak in Jefferson County. What began as a few red dots on drainpipes lower down swelled to swarms blanketing every inch of trees near the mountaintop.
Residents talked to local station KUSA only after the reporter promised not to reveal the location of the amazing red masses. Theirs is a small, quiet area, they said. Few live there -- until now.

I've an 'old' friend in his mid-80's (anyone older than me is 'old'). He also thinks because it does not feel warmer every day where he happens to live, global warming must be a hoax. The 'old' coot is pretty smart too, and good with his hands, but alas he is no scientist. I have been curious about global warming even longer then Al Gore, and my response to Coot's logic is this: I have a magic ballpoint pen that protects me from wild elephants. I KNOW my pen works because, I have never been attacked by wild elephants!

I live in CO and because of the bushchenerove climate change CO is becoming, wait, I've lived here 72 years and I don't see any climate change. We are in a wet period again (like 40 years ago) and we are loving it. Everything outside is green, green, green. Farmer's crops are great and rivers and reservoirs are full. I know that in a few years the cycle will change and we will have drought again like we've had the last few years. These tree hugging climate changers make me laugh. Folks, no one knows what the future will bring, no one. get used to it and enjoy what's left of your life.

Great Story! But for me the answer to why, or how and when is understood. It turns out this is what is called a natural landing site, some say red gold. Because of our climate change, seasons change, the annual migration of the ladybugs has started early, their biological clock has signal them to migrate, one might wonder how such a small insect gets way up there in the mountains, well they have wings but their more like shells and are at mercy to the winds, but this very old insect is master of the Jet streams, so they have decided to come down here at this foot hill mountain area, not something unheard of. If you know more about the Ladybug you will understand more about their migration. New blog on the Hx. of the Ladybug: http://historyoftheladybug.blogspot.com/

I've heard of frogs congregating to mate in the thousands, but frogs start as eggs, then hatch and become tadpoles, then grow feet, lose their tails and become frogs.

They didn't want to reveal the location because like me we are sick of the "transplanters!" I wish they would all go back to where they came from or just keep traveling through. - Go Away
