(April 9) - Is Madame Tussauds playing favorites with its famed wax figures? Some Republicans seem to think so.
A wax likeness of Michelle Obama debuted earlier this week at Madame Tussauds in Washington. She is the third first lady to be represented at the popular museum. The others are Hillary Rodham Clinton and Jacqueline Kennedy.

This made The Washington Times wonder: Where are the Republican first ladies? Laura Bush, the last first lady, is not represented. Neither is her mother-in-law, Barbara Bush. Or Betty Ford. Or Nancy Reagan.

A spokesman for the Republican National Committee said the museum should add some GOP presidential wives to its exhibits.
"Both American history and the American people have embraced Republican first ladies," RNC Communications Director Trevor Francis told the paper. "It's only fitting that the wax museum do the same."
Not all the Democratic first ladies are represented, either, but the newspaper questioned whether the GOP side was being deliberately snubbed.
Not at all, said a museum spokeswoman. Rosemary Del Prado told The Washington Times the popular tourist attraction asks visitors to nominate people to be included in exhibits. "There have not been enough requests" for Republican first ladies, she said.
"There was overwhelming support for a Michelle Obama figure because of her being a fashion icon and mother," Del Prado said.
