LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. (Feb. 27) - The mayor of a small Southern California city says he will resign after being criticized for sharing an e-mail picture depicting the White House lawn planted with watermelons under the title "No Easter egg hunt this year."

Los Alamitos Mayor Dean Grose issued a statement Thursday saying he is sorry and will step down as mayor at Monday's City Council meeting.
Grose came under fire for sending the picture to what he called "a small group of friends." One of the recipients, a local businesswoman and city volunteer, publicly scolded the mayor for his actions.
Grose says he accepts that the e-mail was in poor taste and has affected his ability to lead the city. Grose said he didn't mean to offend anyone and claimed he was unaware of the racial stereotype linking black people with eating watermelons.
Located in Orange County, Los Alamitos is a 2 1/4-square-mile city of around 12,000 people.

Notable Blunders
During a trip to Moscow, Vice President Joe Biden gave an interview to The Wall Street Journal in which he said Russia's economic problems are likely to make the Kremlin more willing to cooperate with the U.S. on a host of issues. "We vastly underestimate the hand that we hold," he said. The quote made front-page headlines in Moscow Monday and angered Russian lawmakers.

You'll notice that there is nothing in the eligibility requirements for mayor of Los Alamitos that says a candidate must have an ounce of sense. Nothing at all.

There is prejudice all around the world , including places as Israel, Irac, India, Pakistan, Japan, Korea, etc. I could go on for a long time, but you get the point. Since America is NOT the only place with prejudice, why must America be the only country to be rid of the prejudice. How can world peace ever be reached when all countries are guilty of harboring their own prejudice, not just the United States. A HUGE EXAMPLE WAS THE BERLIN WALL!!! But what country consistantly never gave up hope to see that wall be brought down, the UNITED STATES. PREJUDICE EXISTS IN SOOO MANY WAYS AND NOT JUST SKIN COLOR. SO ANYONE WHO THINKS THEY ARE BETTER OR HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE AMERICA, NEEDS TO LOOK IN THEIR OWN BACK YARD!!!!

The city council should refuse the resignation to give themselves the opportunity to impeach and remove this creep.

For those of you who want to see the picture in the e-mail that was sent ==== go to=== http://speakyourpeace.me/2009/02/27/watermelon-white-house/ ===== Since AOL was being politically correct and didn't show it on this blog. It is too sad that people are not comfortable with allowing the general public to make their own decision based on political protocal, but have to be controlled by the inaccurate, politically correct press, internet, etc. It really must suck not being able to have freedom of speech in other countries.
