Latvian experts say meteorite crater was hoax

My friend and I were driving on Vista Chino (parallel to the 10 freeway) in Cathedral city, CA when we both saw what appeared to be a falling star; she began to laugh when she noted my astonishment. I've seen many shooting stars; however, this did not appear to be as such. This 'so-called' shooting star did not burn up as they do in the atmosphere as it just kept coming down..She was laughing while I was scared to death..She said, "haven't you ever seen a shooting star?" I said; "this is not a shooting star...what is the world?...This shot past us while I stared behind our window...I remember it was June as I thought for a moment it could be a firework...yet, i know for sure it wasn't..It was massive and burning with a fireball effect and a tail unlike anything i've ever seen..How can I search what this may have been? How can anyone have missed it?
