New Search for Holloway in Aruba

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (March 22) — The father of a U.S. teen who went missing nearly four years ago in Aruba said Sunday that a private investigator will scour a retention pond for answers that have eluded the family throughout numerous false leads and fruitless searches.
Dave Holloway said tracker dog specialist Fred Golba, from Chicopee, Massachusetts, will begin his latest search for evidence into Natalee Holloway's May 2005 disappearance early Monday. He said the tracker, who has searched for her eight times before, must be accompanied to the pond by Aruban police escorts, who delayed an anticipated weekend search.

Natalee Holloway, from Mountain Brook, Alabama, was 18 when she was last seen leaving a bar in the Aruban capital on the final night of a high school graduation trip. No trace of her has been found despite extensive searches involving hundreds of volunteers, Aruban soldiers, FBI agents and even Dutch F-16 jets with special equipment.
But Dave Holloway said a witness last year alleged that he saw the only remaining suspect, Joran van der Sloot, coming out of the brackish pond in northwest Aruba with only one sneaker on after Natalee's disappearance. He said the witness has passed a polygraph test.
"I've been looking for (nearly) four years and I intend to search all the evidence and every lead," said Holloway, speaking to The Associated Press from his home in Meridian, Mississippi. "(The witness) saw what he saw — or he believed he saw what he saw."
Sections of the remote pond area have been searched previously and no evidence was ever found.
Holloway said he had been waiting for the retention pond to dry up before commissioning this latest search, "but the weather has not been cooperative."
Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for the Aruba Prosecutors' Office, said neither police nor prosecutors have any new information in the case, but they gave Dave Holloway permission to search the pond, which is about a kilometer (mile) away from where she was last seen.
Before he left for Aruba on Friday, Golba told Fox 25 television in Boston that he planned to stick his hands into the pond's muddy bottom and feel around for "bones and his sneaker" while his tracking dog searches the marshy scrubland.
"I have more confidence in this pond then anything I have done in eight trips to this island," Golba told the TV station.
In early January, Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos said his office was "approaching the end of this lengthy investigation" and appealed to the public for help.

I heard that in Aruba there are certain places you just should never be in. There's certain waters over there that have sharks, and waste is thrown into the water so the sharks can eat them. If this girls body hasn't been found after this many years of search, isn't it also a possible theory that the men raped her than threw her body into the water where it was food for the sharks? That could be a reason they still haven't found a body yet.

After seeing the new movie "Taken," about how young American tourist girls are staked out and taken, I am thinking the possibility of her being abducted for the international sex trade seems quite plausible.

My 1st reaction was, she was sold to be a sex slave, and I still believe it. That was also the last story Van Der Sloot gave.

This is absolutely hilarious. Even though what little of any of us know about what Natilee Holiway was like is based on her actions in Aruba which were widely reported and anything but "shy and modest", half of you act like she was the virgin princess of Alabama. Was her behavior on that night stupid? Of course. Did she deserve to be killed for it? Of course not. Is there evidence implicating Van der Sloot? Of course. Is there ENOUGH EVIDENCE to convict him either by Aruban or American standards? Probably not by theirs (I'm certainly no expert on Dutch law) but certainly not here where there's just as much evidence against that cop who just got engaged to future dead wife number three, was more evidence against OJ and about the same amount of evidence there was against the guy in in California who offed his wife who wasn't convicted until AFTER her body came floating ashore. This "don't go to Aruba" ranting is hilarious. I used to go to Florida a couple of times a year, and take my wor...

Simmer4281....a nice, trusting girl might get in a car with new "friends" if she was a bit tipsy or had been drugged. There's no way you can blame Natalee, no one deserves to die for showing poor judgment in their teens. No one would make it to adulthood if that were the case.

she thought she was safe because vander sloot was white, just goes to show you can't be 100% sure just because a guy is the same race as you

I really do not understand why this girl got into a car with two men she didn't know. She should have stayed with her friends. Safety in numbers. I do hope they find her body so that her family will finally have closure.

See Aruba and die.The only people possibly worse than the Aruba authorities who protect locals and people with money, are the jerks who blame Natalee for dying. No on deserves to die just because you're a prude and you think people should live out their lives in a convent somewhere.
