Glendalee2585....just curious has your daughter and son-in-law continued their educations? It's not just a moral issue when people talk of teen pregnancy. You have to think down the road and standard of living issues. Though you say your daughter and son-in-law are self supporting, were they always? Not counting the support you may have chipped in or his family. Your daughter is probably a good mom because you're a good mom and didn't give up on your own kid. Kids as you said make mistakes...........though along with you, I would not refer to a child as a mistake. However, most teens don't have as solid a support system as your daughter and the average teen mom does not end up marrying her child's father.

well im afraid the experts know more than you:"Nelson attributes the 2007 numbers to a "perfect storm" of factors: more immigrants having children, professional women who delayed childbearing until their 40s, and larger numbers of women in their 20s and 30s in the population, keeping the fertility rate high. The average number of births per woman was 2.1 in 2006, the highest since 1971."

To RWolf and RCM - You're still assuming that the increase in births is related to teens or people that can't support them - we don't know that! The article even says that they don't have age and race data on the mothers. You both have anger issues and you don't know the facts. Personally I believe it's our capitalist society and the greedy ones in power that drove this country into the ground but oops I was wrong! It's those teen pregnancies!!! You're the ignorant ones!

Bravo to RCM...to those that think (a) the 1 miracle that weaves its way through society versus the 99 that don't and (b) that "changing the mindset" will work after generation and generation has proven that it does not, I advise you to move to neighborhoods where babies having having babies is worth it to society. I guarantee you that in 48 hours, you "mindset" will change. It is high time to say that government supported babies having babies is unacceptable and a real threat to our way of life. With the options to avoid pregnancy and still have sex, I am sorry- no more excuses. Ignorance is not bliss, unless your desire to have our country turn into a 3rd world country.Time to wake up and realize it is a crime against humanity to bring a child into our society without the parental support systems that are necessary. As one who has worked my butt off to support my children and family, I refuse to accpet anything less.

Thank you 3rd world immigrants/ catholic church for continuing our country's freefall into 2nd world status by overpopulating us into having the same problems of the crappy country that you left, but yet you still hold your loyalties towards. How stupid do you have to be to think that you can come here by the millions and have babies by the millions and that our standard of living will remain the best in the world? Where I have lived for most of my life - Houston - I have seen it go from a nice place to grow up (a big "little" town) in the 70's to a gang/drug/crime infested, overcrowded/overbuilt/traffic nightmare, run-down/ghettoized dump where I feel like a stranger in my own land...and to that the mexicans say "you should because you stole our land" - it is an infuriating, ridiculous, and pathetic situation.

Does that mean we can reduce the legal immigrant numbers from 850,000 to say 50,000 yearly?
