I for one think this is a horrible idea... Ever heard of Bruce/Brenda/David Reimer? I know that this situation is not the same because Pop is not being forced to live being the opposite gender, but I think a few of the concepts still apply. I think the experience may potentially scar Pop as he/she is too young to really understand why he/she lives the way he/she lives. I don't mean to offend but keeping the child's sexual identity a secret seems (to me) to have more cons than pros. What will happen when the child goes to school? Not only will children possibly make fun of him/her because he/she is different in the way he/she acts, but even something as deciding which public bathroom to enter could be a dilemma. In a world where gender stereotypes are a part of life, I believe denying a child experience dealing with how others treat someone based on their sex would in fact weaken, not strengthen, them. I'm not saying one should conform to every aspect of "society," just that on t...

The only thing that these parents will accomplish is to confuse and possibly mentally scar their child. Pop will not be able to tell who he/she is when the time comes and will become an outcast to all. These parents have no right to put this type of stress on that poor kid.

Do you think gender stereotypes hurt children? >>>>>>Another dumb AOL question in which they ask for a yes or no question, but the answer clearly deserves an explanation to either yes, no, or I don't know as the given choices. Then for good measure, AOL throws in photos in the middle of the article that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the main story. Thank goodness I do not pay for AOL's services, or I would be quite disturbed by their ignorance. Most of the articles posted are mispelled and are worded in a way that makes no sense. What a shame these folks call themselves "journalists." Folks have no morals, ethics, standards, or goals anymore...lazy, ignorant, misinformed seems to be the norm.

maybe the child is a hermphadite. only the parents know. there are very few people born with both organs. maybe that is the real issue.

What is going on with our school system? Reading posts on AOL message boards is scary. Nobody knows how to spell or construct a normal sentence anymore. I am 47 years old and went to Catholic School. Spelling tests were given on a weekly basis and if you got any words wrong, you were writing them 20 times each. Therapy not theripy, sexes not sexs. How are we going to surivive as a nation when our youth can't even spell simple words?

Who cares?? Our parents did not pick and choose what gender/sexuality they wanted us to be. When the child becomes old enough to know the difference, it will become what it wants to become.

Hopefully, the baby will choose it's own gender in time and hopefully new parents.
