Federal Aviation Administration officials say the pilot died after takeoff from an airport in Naples on Sunday. It was on autopilot and climbing toward 10,000 feet when the pilot died.
The passenger who took over is licensed for single-engine planes but isn't certified to fly the larger King Air craft.
An air traffic controller helped the passanger down by calling a friend in Connecticut who knows the King Air plane and relaying instructions. The plane landed safely at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers.
The plane had been headed to Jackson, Miss. The names of the pilot and passengers have not been released.

OMG - my worst nightmare is to be on a plane and have something happen to the pilot! How fortunate the single engine pilot could take over and land safely. That could have been an even bigger tragedy. My condolences to the deceased pilot's family.

Yes, thank God for fat conservative Christians and thick southern accents, and also for Rush Limbaugh fans. Wait, what does that have to do with this article again?

What's going on here??? What is a News Story like this doing here??? I thought this venue was only for the "DOOM & GLOOM" News, that only the Messiah Obama's "Hope & Change" could rescue us from!! Such an inspiring, non-Obama news story should not even be here!! Can we please get back to the important issues of the day, such as "What are the Obama children going to name their new dog", now that they finally got the dog after weeks of hearing about it's Breed, Color, Sex, Age, Birthplace, Blood Type, as well as the Preferred Dog Food of which the Savior's Family will feed it? This wasted space could be used for yet another week of more important world issues like "Madame Tussauds museum unveiled a wax figure of first lady Michelle Obama" (One week of this Front Page story is not nearly enough!). Someone at AOL News needs to get their priorities straight! Otherwise, I'm going to MSNBC for my news!
