Personally a low time private pilot sel landing a king air pretty amazing , in southern US states he simply said what he felt because he was raised that way , its his culture, and heritage , like mine from the north i dont really aspire to any particular religion but each makes his own way in life have to respect all beliefs . i personally would be happy to come out of his situation alive and well , free to believe in my beliefs .

If this is the Doug White that owns an automobile body shop I was told he is a complete money hungry, slave driving jerk. The person that told me that is an ex-employee of Mr. White. For ten years I've had a negative impression of this man that I've never met. I would never have taken him for a Christian man. Just shows how important it is to not form an impression of someone based on what you hear unless you know and totally trust the person providing the information. Most people want you to like and dislike the same people they do because it feeds their ego. I'm glad I read this story to remind me to be contious to keep an open mind and ignore and avoid gossip and heresay and pettiness. Good job Doug White

The King Air is basically easy to fly - it is as responsive as the Cessnas this guy had have flown previously, and that is more than half the battle. The rest of it is just a matter of knowing what power settings to make and when, when to put down how many degrees of flapsa, etc., which he could be coached through by radio virtually as easily as if an instructor were sitting beside him. The fact is, when you learn to fly, you are taught by your instructors to anticipate in-flight emergencies, and that the first thing to do when confronted by one is NOT TO PANIC, but to THINK - or as they like to say, "fly the airplane." That, essentially, is what this guy did, & if there is anything at all "amazing" abou this it is that he did as he had been trained, considering that he was a very low-time pilot whose overall confidence level might not be that high to start with. This is not about the purported complexities of the aircraft, but the psychology of the pilot.

It's a sad commentary of our society when people make insensitive comments about this life and death event. You have no idea of the feeling of Mr. White when he remarked about Joe Cabuk being a Christian. Surely it made no different in what kind of a pilot Joe was, but it does say something about his life. Apparently, those that write the nasty remarks live some other sort of a life. Too bad for you. I knew Joe Cabuk and flew with a number of times while we worked together for Fleeman Aviation in Monroe, La. Joe was a kind and compassionate man and a true professional pilot. No pretenses at all. Joe was a good friend. Please show some respect for a man who died doing what he loved and did very well. We should all be so fortunate. I'm so sorry for his family, although I'm suspect that Joe would have wanted to leave this earth doing exactly what he was doing - flying. God rest your soul, Joe

God, what a story. It would be great if the comments here reflected that, but I live in America. Wishful thinking.
