WASHINGTON, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) issues the following statement concerning H.R. 3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act:
"I am proud to announce that I will advocate for, and be voting for, the Affordable Health Care for America Act in the House of Representatives this week.
"Americans have waited far too long for a comprehensive healthcare system that the people of a great nation deserve as a fundamental right. The wait is almost over. We will vote in the House this week, and we will win this battle.
"This legislation will contain a public insurance option that I will support. If there is an opportunity to strengthen that public option, now or later, I will join that effort. My priority is to provide access to coverage for uninsured and under-insured Americans now, and to bring down the costs and improve quality for those who already have health insurance.
"President Obama was elected by the largest margin in a quarter century, with by far the largest vote total in American history, on the promise of comprehensive healthcare reform. This is his mandate and our imperative."
