Saudi security officers walk past posters of the movie 'Menahi' on Saturday. A group of conservative men gathered outside the theater's entrance to discourage moviegoers from going in, but most largely ignored them.

Thanks for posting more Arabian history than probably 95% of Americans ever bother to learn. Its all true. ============== M36bayarea09:35 PMJun 09 2009saudi family was put in power after 1945 when ottoman empire collapsed, brits wanted a backward branch of islam wahabies to keep arab world in dark ages so they can rob them of oil fields, this saud family is the most corrupt men in human story. they enjoy life at expense of arab masses, it is time that arabs rise up and remove monarchy from arab world and bring socialism and equality to arab world.

I understand when Elvis Presley was on TV, they, whoever they are, wouldn't allow the camera to show his shaking legs. And women in the US weren't allowed to vote until the 1920's. I guess liberalism, progressivism, isn't so bad.

KSA is badly behind the times, which is not true in many other parts of the Middle East. It is not a monolith, despite Americans believing it is -- found a cool site; Balkingpoints ; incredible satellite view of earth

All I can say is with all the negative factions and misrepresentations of Islam, If one really takes the time to understand it, it is not at all what the media portrays. I would not live my life, nor raise my children in any other way. The beautiful thing about this country is, I can choose how I want to raise my family and live my life. If these Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, etc. where actually "Islamic" countries (i.e. implementing Sharia law"as it should be applied, not like the Taliban or Wahabis(Saudis)", everyone(EVERYONE) has a voice, has equal rights(Muslims/Non Muslims) for men and women. On the flip side, If they are the controlling body(gov't), they set policy. I don't agree with it, but it's their country. I I choose to live there, then I have to accept the laws of the land. Otherwise, live somewhere else.
