WASHINGTON (July 23) - Syndicated columnist Robert Novak says he has been issued a $50 citation after hitting a pedestrian while driving in downtown Washington.

Robert Novak, shown here last year, told WJLA-TV he didn't realize what happened and kept driving until a bicyclist stopped him.

Witnesses say the collision occurred about 10 a.m. Wednesday as the 77-year-old Novak was traveling near K Street in his black Chevrolet Corvette.
D.C. fire department spokesman Alan Etter said the victim was taken to George Washington University hospital with minor injuries.
Novak tells WJLA-TV he was cited for failing to yield the right of way. He says he didn't realize what happened and continued driving until a bicyclist stopped him.
David Bono, the bicyclist who witnessed the incident, told The Associated Press that the pedestrian was hit in a crosswalk and was splayed across Novak's windshield.

How can you hit someone and not realize what you did? Joe Citizen would have been arrested on the spot. Another politician running amok.

Robert Novak should have never been behind the wheel of a corvette. He should still be in prison for revealing the name of an undercover CIA agent named Valerie Plame. If this criminal were where he should be the victim would have never been hit by his car.

is anyone really surprized that Mr. Know-it-all was unaware that he hit someone in a cross walk. After listening to him for years, it is clear that he is unaware of most things happening in this century, or the last one for that matter.

I can only assume the Judge was a close relative of Novak. Otherwise he would have received the same justice any of the rest of us would have received. It was clearly hit and run. How could any driver not see someone in the crosswalk that he hits and throws him up in front of the windshield. It he was not watching his windshield and the road ahead, this is at best reckless driving that resulted in an accident which injured, not matter how slightly, a pedestrian. Didn't someone once say, "Justice for all" and that meant in all cases whether good or bad. That judge needs to be censured and perhaps removed from the bench. He is not fit to judge in a way that protects the citizenry, and that includes Novak AND the citizens like you and me.
