(July 16) - The family of Scott Peterson, one of America's most notorious death row inmates, is asking for your help.
Peterson was convicted in 2004 of murdering his pregnant wife Laci and their unborn son. He is locked up in San Quentin State Prison while his case is automatically appealed to the California Supreme Court.

Although the state covers part of the cost of the appeal, a Web site run by the Peterson family said they need another $95,000 to conduct an investigation aimed at winning a new trial.
"We have been very blessed in that our parents have been able to pay for Scott's defense and appellate attorneys for the past 6 years. But the reality of today is that they have exhausted their resources," said a statement from "The Peterson Family Children" on scottpetersonappeal.org.
The site urges supporters to donate between $5 and $50 apiece, adding that "Many hands make light work."
Peterson himself wrote a blog post on the site last month expressing concern about delays in the investigation.
"I know that we can show my innocence again. I hope to do it before much time goes by," he declared.
San Quentin inmates are not allowed access to the Internet, but Peterson can send letters to his relatives who can post his messages online.
Peterson is also allowed to spend 5 hours a day exercising and playing cards with other prisoners, according to a recent profile in People. But most of his day is spent in a 4-by-9-foot cell. The magazine reported that there is only one photo on the wall. It shows Scott and Laci Peterson together, smiling.
