US Pilot Allegedly Too Drunk to Fly

LONDON, England (Nov. 10) - British police said they stopped a United Airlines pilot from flying while intoxicated earlier this week, pulling him from a Boeing 767 aircraft at London's Heathrow airport and charging him with being on duty while his blood-alcohol level was over the limit.

British authorities say they stopped a United Airlines pilot from flying on Monday because he was intoxicated. Erwin Vermont Washington was charged in the incident and has since been released on bail. United spokeswoman Megan McCarthy says the 51-year-old was removed from service during an investigation.
