HBSSL 02:05 PMJul 23 2008 america is always messing with somebody. why can't we just leave these people to do what they want. it is none of our business------------------------------------From the article: "Armed attacks on cargo ships, oil tankers and cruise ships are estimated to cost more than $1 billion a year, says Peter Chalk, a senior security analyst at RAND Corp. "Piracy does affect U.S. commerce. It is to the economic interest of the United States that the sea lanes are as stable as possible," Chalk says."You should read the article then make your comments. Might make you look less stupid next time.

President Jefferson in the 1800 had to fight the muslins who at the time like the above writer said. They would make slaves of the sailors on the ships, someamericans, french, english and etc. They would ask for so much a head andthan asked for for over 20% of our nation capital at that time. Jefferson said atthat time the muslin was a problem at that time but also would be a problem tothe nation in the years to come. Pres. Jefferson was way before his time about this.

The previous poster who made the comment about "...to the shores of Tripoli" being why the Marine corp was created was correct and he was misunderstood. However there is some irony in this since the Lybian (Tripoli) pirates where capturing Western (both American and European) ships not only for their booty but to collect slaves while America was still a slave nation.

Sorry for the double post. AOL kept giving me error responses and asked me to resubmit twice. I should know better than this by now because I've found that by clicking on the "previous" then the "next" buttons in the comments section usually reveals that the comment was actually posted in spite of the fact that AOL gave me an error notice or that the comment doest show or the comment appears blank. Generally clicking "previous" and then "next" reveals the post made it all along.
