RET31155 --Most Americans were against the Vietnam War during the 60s and early part of the 70s. It was a different time, different mindset. Being bitter after all these years doesn't help you, it hurts you and your family.

The much loved and respected Mr. Cronkite did more to save the whales of this planet than any other single individual. Although he insisted on saying "Febuary" instead of "February" (because that's how most people [mis]pronounce it), he remains the best damn newscaster we've ever known. I will keep him, as I always have, in my heart and in my thoughts! Wherever life's journey takes him, I wish him Godspeed!

I met Mr. Cronkite in Cocoa Beach Florida right after he quit the Evening News. He went to FL for many of the early Shuttle launches. He is a top notch guy!!

Whats making him sick is not the bs stuff you allude to. The man is 92 years old for heaven's sake. He is sick because his life is finishing up here on earth and the body is deteriorating. People here are way too crazy.

I watched him as a child. It was comforting watching Mr. Walter Cronkite, even when the news was bad, he made you feel that we as Americans could weather it and come out on top.

When all the major media outlets are owned by only a few individuals, you can be assured that we no longer live in a Free Society but are under the rule of Despotism. Walter Cronkite joined every Rockefeller group he could get into and fought hard to destroy our freedoms. Walter Cronkite was, and is, attached to our history and our memories, but that does not excuse the evil he has done. I hope he recovers and changes his ways.

I grew up watching Walter Cronkite and never will forget his coverage when JFK died and when the men landed on the moon.He would always take his glasses off when emotional about something. My parents would listen to WC on the news while eating dinner.I had to wait until Walter stopped talking to talk about something. He stopped often in my little NC hometown which is on a river and would stay there a day or two then head down to Fla. in his boat.

Very sad. But 92 is a pretty good run.
