'Things Will
Get Better'

1 of 5

Barbara Harvey settles in with her two dogs in the back of her car, which she has lived in for two months. Sleeping in your car is illegal in California. But through a program run by the New Beginnings Counseling Center, Harvey and other homeless people in Santa Barbara can choose among several parking lots in the area to safely sleep at night.

Report This! This is evidently an intelligent woman when it came to her vocation but not so with her personal life. At age 67 she is old enough to collect Social Security and to have already planned some type of pension. She knew when she was not able to handle her mortgage so she should have sought ot sell her home, rent it or get a roommate or two. Where are her children?. There is more to this story. What is being left unsaid? No pity here.

Eviidently an intelligent woman when it came to her vocation. Not so with her personal life. At age 67 she should have made plans for retirement and is old enough to collect social security. She knew when she was over her head, why not sell the house before losing it or attempt to rent it. Something is wrong with this story. What is being left unsaid? Why not live with one of her children? No pity here.

Halterwym - You are right - this will happen to more and more people. It is a shame regardless of what her last job was, where she lived, where her kids are. Who are we to judge?
