Sorry AOL, but for a long time to come I'll be taking any "good economic news" with a huge grain of salt because it's "something of a mirage" as you yourselves have said.

SUPPLY AND DEMAND THE RIGHT WING ECONOMISTS KEEP HAWKING ! ! !

Well let's take a page from their book and apply a little ( a lot )! of pressure to the demand side of the "conservamamie" solution to all our problems ! ! !

Listen up ...EVERYBODY ! ! ! Start thinking of ways to save gasoline expenditures by cutting down on trips to visit shopping malls, food markets, and visits to faraway relatives you hate anyway ! ! !
Our "friends" in the oil industry tell us that the way to lower gasoline prices is
less demand ! ! ! Let's take them at their word and really cut gasoline use
to absolute necessities and emergencies! ! ! !
We can do it ! ! ! We Can Do It ! ! ! WE CAN DO IT ! ! !
Lets show them how much we can conserve gasoline ! ! ! Iet's give them a summer surprise ! ! !

Won't THAT get the Saudis hot under kimonas ! ! !

NRG-1 Gasoline Prices rose less than they usually do in April. What are the Government Experts Smoking!

tstew13131 01:29:44 PM May 20 2008

Since gasoline prices rose less than they usually do in April, that translated into a decline in the government's figures.

How on Earth could gas be lower in April 08, then in April 07?>

tstew13131 01:25:11 PM May 20 2008

Energy prices fell by 0.2 percent in April ******************* surge in March. The PPI report showed that gasoline costs fell by 4.6 percent. However, that decline reflected the government's seasonal adjustment methods. Since gasoline prices rose less than they usually do in April, that translated into a decline in the government's figures.
What planet are these people from? This story is riddiclous!
