First there is the White House Press scandal wherein gay porn star - and hustler for pay - aka, conservative news reporter Jeff Gannon of whom Daily Kos said:
"... has been extremely anti-gay in his writings. He's been a shill for the Christian right. So there's a certain level of hypocrisy there that I thought was fair game and needed to be called out."
According to the Washington Post:
"In 2003, when Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) told the Associated Press that legalizing gay sex could lead to judicial approval of "man on dog" activities, Gannon wrote a Talon article headlined "Santorum Won't Apologize; AP Reporter Has Kerry Ties." Gannon quoted gay activists offering what he said were "predictable responses," then questioned the role of the AP reporter, who was married to John Kerry's then-campaign manager. "
"In a story last year, Gannon wrote that Kerry "might someday be known as 'the first gay president.' . . . The Massachusetts liberal has enjoyed a 100% rating from the homosexual advocacy group, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), since 1995 in recognition of his support for the pro-gay agenda."
This was after Gannon tossed a previously approved, setup question to Bush beginning with, "I have written stories on the White House position on the gay marriage..." to hype the President's position on the pro-Conevangelical, anti gay marriage ban.
Then its Republican Party Wanna-be Bush and accused racist "Macaca" Allen who begins to deconstruct in front of God and everybody. Continuing reports about his love of Jesus Christ as part of his admiration for the heritage of Southern Slavocracy, nooses, and cowboy boots find their way into the national headlines as he flip flops his way through his explanation of his use of the racial slur Macaca, his knowledge of its etymology, and the origin of his own racial and religious heritage.
Heir apparent to the 2008 Conevangelical "pick of the litter" for Republican President, the confused Protestant one day, Jewish next day, upper class Anglo son of pro football coach George Allen from Illinois and California and ex-Reagan appointed, becomes so confused about who he is and that he's on the verge of disintegration, no pun intended.
Then comes the "Creepy" Christian Conservative, Internet pedophilic stalker from the Cracker region of Florida, Congressperson Mark Foley rated 84% by the Christian Coalition: a pro-family voting record. (Dec 2003)
Pleading his Serious concern for the cosmetic well-being of a 16 year old, Louisiana Congressional intern, he asked for proof of his photographic countenance after the boy weathered the Katrina.
On Friday, Foley resigned when news of his E-assaults on the boy were reported.
According to AOL news,
"Six hours after his resignation letter was read to the House by a clerk, the chairman of a panel that oversees the page program issued a one-page written statement that deflected any blame from House leaders.
"The statement from Rep. John Shimkus, R-Ill., said the House Page Board he chairs investigated the allegations late last year, but he said Foley "was not honest" in denying improper conduct with the teenager. Pages are high school students who attend classes under congressional supervision and work as messengers.
"The House voted to have its ethics committee consider whether to investigate further. The Democratic leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, said the committee should determine who knew of the messages, whether Foley had other contacts with pages and when the Republican leadership was notified of Foley's conduct.
According to the Washington Post:
"The resignation rocked the Capitol, and especially Foley's GOP colleagues, as lawmakers were rushing to adjourn for at least six weeks. House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of some "contact" between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), and that Hastert assured him "we're taking care of it."
The 11-month "care taking" was in fact a cover up.
Foley was the "shoo-in" in Bro Bush's other Conevangelical base Florida, (which means uncritical support for any supporter for his brother George's polices,) Foley was being fast tracked for reelection.
Foley was chairman of the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, and introduced legislation in July to protect children from exploitation by adults over the Internet. He also sponsored other legislation designed to protect minors from abuse and neglect. He voted YES on more prosecution and sentencing for juvenile crime. (Jun 1999)
The issue of criminality is whether Foley will be charged as a sexual predator for inappropriate e-mail messages sent to the 16-year-old male congressional page. It appears that his emails, sent from a Pensacola, Florida hotel violate both state and federal Internet sexual predator laws.
Foley crusaded for tough laws against those who used the Internet for sexual exploitation of children.
"They're sick people; they need mental health counseling," Foley said. Foley also denies that he violated the law in his IM intercourse with the teen.
But, according to several former congressional pages, the congressman used the Internet to engage in sexually explicit exchanges, saying that he used the screen name Maf54 on these messages provided to ABC News:
Maf54: You in your boxers, too?
Teen: Nope, just got home. I had a college interview that went late.
Maf54: Well, strip down and get relaxed.
Another message:
Maf54: What ya wearing?
Teen: tshirt and shorts
Maf54: Love to slip them off of you.
And this one:
Maf54: jock strap too
Teen: not iin soccer
Maf54: lol
Maf54: what do you wear then
Teen: just our boxers and shorts
Maf54: good
Teen: lol
Maf54: shows your package then
Maf54: Do I make you a little horny?
Teen: A little.
Maf54: Cool.
Maf54: ummm nice
And another:
Maf54: Well, strip down and get relaxed.
According to the AOL news report, "Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., who sponsored the page from his district, told reporters that he learned of the e-mails from a reporter some months ago and passed on the information to Rep. Thomas Reynolds, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Republican campaign organization.
Alexander said he did not pursue the matter further because "his parents said they didn't want me to do anything." (AP **)
The great irony to that is that the parents were not the ones being sexually targeted for sexual assault and apparently didn't require protection.
Foley opposed the 2000 Presidential vote recount in his hotly contested district, remarking that his Palm Beach constituents "have been caught in the middle of a chaos created by outsiders who will not take defeat for an answer, and by a ballot-counting process that is impossible and inconsistent." Foley called for a quick end to the lawsuits and appeals, declaring that the election had been decided in favor President Bush who has said that he "was told by Christ" to become President.
With the exception of his support of gay civil rights, (*) Foley's record on the issues reads like a buffet menu for right wing causes as a servant of Government of the People on the House Ways and Means Committee.
As Tom Delay's lieutenant, Foley voted to weaken House ethics rules protecting his now indicted leader.
He supported Bush's Social Security privatization scheme and interfered in the Terri Schiavo case by voting to allow Congress to make personal medical decisions instead of families and doctors.
The current top runner among conservative Republicans for Foley's race is Joe Negron, who appears to be yet another Creepy Christian Conservative as rated by Operation Vote Smart. They reported that Negron is:
Conservative:
2005-2006 - supported the interests of the Christian Coalition of Florida 100 percent in 2005-2006. - 2005 supported the interests of the Christian Coalition of Florida 93 percent in 2005. 2003-2004 On the votes that the Christian Coalition of Florida considered to be the most important in 2003-2004, Representative Negron voted their preferred position 100 percent of the time.
(*) Lets be clear that being gay or lesbian DOES NOT equate with being a pedophile, nor having "tendencies" to commit illegal acts against minors.)
