Another question to throw out there: Why is it that so many self-professed men and women of the people happen to possess more wealth than most of us regular folks ever will? Exhibit A: The Massachusetts governor's race. Three of the four candidates -- Republican Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey, Democrat Deval Patrick, and independent Christy Mihos -- are all millionaires.

1. This is an inciteful cartoon. I think Mr. Tenorio hit the nail on the head. The cadidates have produced numerous commercials indicating that they share the same personal fiscal concerns as the rest of us. However, this is anything but true.
I hope Mr. Tenorio treats us to more of his witty cartoons. I really hope he drops the big one on the corrupt Martha Coakley. She needs to get her come-uppons!

2. I don't understand why you seem to share the misguided view that money is the source of evil and a millionaire can't be a decent person. Consider the alternative - as your cartoon suggests. Instead of being the tool of big money, someone who "speaks for the people" is more likely to be a tool in destructive power struggle, bringing dangerous demagogues to power. I'm weary of those who claim to speak for "the people" and the "common good." Despite their best intentions, they are likely to inflict more harm than good. I'd rather trust my tax dollars to a millionaire who has proven he knows how to handle money than to a street agitator (or a cartoonist) who has no such credentials. Here's a little hypocrisy test for you: ask your liberal friends to give their paychecks to you instead of taking them to the bank - because you can use their money for the common good, while the bank will only use it to make profit, increasing the amount of evil in this world. The point is, their refusal (a normal reaction) will be hypocritical because it'll contradict their professed morality. So there must be something wrong here - either with your liberal friends or with their "common good" morality. I'd look at the latter. The "liberal" morality is unsustainable and flawed - first of all, because it turns normal people into hypocrites and makes them feel guilty when there's no reason for it.
