1101. Dear Mr. Donaldson,


I am constantly amazed by the reaction of people, not just the politicians, but journalists and pundits as well, who decry the actions taken by North Korea and Iran to obtain nuclear weapons.


I mean, just look at it from their perspective.


They see what we have done to Iraq, a country whose threat was purely fictional, whose ties to 9/11 were non-existent ... and yet we invaded with what was described at the time as "the most intensive 48-hour aerial bombing campaign in military history" ~ wreaking destruction on a massive scale, losing thousands of young American lives and killing more than half-a-million innocent Iraqis in the process.


After everything turned to shit in under a week, suddenly this bloodbath became Operation Iraqi Freedom, a little late at that juncture to get all sheepish and say to the Iraqis, "Shock & Awe, shucks ~ we thought you guys had WMDs and countless other Evildoer--type equipment. Our bad."


Of course, one cannot have a truly enriching & highly profitable REconstruction without first engaging in lots and lots of DEstruction, right?


So, I have two questions, Sam.


First question:

Don't you think if the U.S. really just wanted Saddam and his two nitwit sons, Uday & Udon'tSay? out of business ~ we could have accomplished that objective with a team of Army Rangers, Navy Seals or some other Special Ops force, sparing the lives of countless innocents in the process?


And second:

Given the fact that probably 75% (at least) of the world considers George W. Bush every bit as loony, if not more so, as Kim Jong Il and the Iranian president, why on earth should we, a nation just more than 200 years old, be dictating to other countries which ones should or should not be allowed access to certain weapons?


After all, Sam ~ isn't it true that it is the U.S. which is the lone country to employ real, honest-to-God WMDs against another country? (Japan in WWII)
