496. I have to say I am angry at both parties. Well, angry is not the word when it comes to Republicans. These are hateful, lying, criminal partisans who are ruining this country. I have questions. What gives the U.S. the right to invade other countries and interfere in other people's sovereignty? Why have the Democrats not more strongly challenged the Republicans on all the issues, especially the Republicans' stealing of the 2000 and 2004 elections? Not one major Democrat has stood up to fight for voting rights in this country, while millions of people are being systematically disenfranchised, right now. We are not a democracy, yet we pretend we can bring democracy to other nations? By invasion and occupation? This is nuts!!

497. Why is it that neither party has admitted that negative campaigning is drastically effecting voter turnout? I know in my own circle its a big topic of discussion. Nobody seems to know whay any candidate really stands for- only what alleged crimes they have committed. If the Democrats and Republicans REALLY want to get out the vote- leave the mudslinging at home !

499. In regards to the situation in Iraq, I haven't heard anything from former Sec of State Colin Powell. Has he had any comments regarding the Iraq war since he left office?

500. My name is John Colman and I am the Research Director/product development director at Life Extension Foundation in Fort Lauderdale. We publish the most highly respected international magazine on health issues and anti-aging therapies. I am right now preparing a list of state-of-the art anti-aging supplements for George H, nationally-known anti-aging figure and example of 'eternal youth' to our generation . Do you want me to submit to you a personal recommendation of proven compounds that actually increase human cell lifespan in research with the full text research articles? Would you like to do a story with other notables on the enormous progress made in nutraceuticals around the world and its impact on the baby boomers and beyond? By the way, do you take seriously the 'supposed threat' of the libertarian vote? Do you think that people just really want to back to the 'good old days' of prosperity with a Democrat in the White House and control of congress with the opposite party, a so-called modern'balance of power' or vice-versa, which has the same political balancing effect ?

502. Do you think, now that the Democrats have control of the house, they will act on Articles of Impeachment against the President?

503. How has the Bush Administration gotten away with, and the press allowed, the term 'Islamic Fascism' since "fascism" means "characterized by dictatorship, centralized control of private enterprise, repression of opposition, and extreme nationalism"? Only "repression of opposition" applies and the other three characteristics don't even get close to being relevant in the descripton. "Nazi" doesn't apply either. And doesn't "Jihad" actually refer to the "holy war within the individual in reconciling their actions in relation to their spritual teachings"?...not a 'real' war with other people and religions?

504. I would like your opinion Mr. Donaldson: Do you agree that the Democrats will tax the middle-class to the point of making us lower-class just so that they can give me food stamps and Medi-cal health insurance to prove they have the overt power to change our lives? I would prefer to be able to purchase a new car when needed and buy household items, take my family to the movies and occasionally take a much needed vacation, I fear the Democrats! I fear they will change America and make us weak and even more vulnerable. Do I have a reason to be afraid, what is your opinion?

505. Immigration?? Illegal?? What does either really mean?? My understanding of illegal meant not lawful. Then why is the so called Congres for the American people does not know this??
In my opinion ,they dont care,it's all about being in office(a life long ,do nothing career) for most of them.In every job I had ,you were productive or you did not keep your job,not so for those in Wash.
They are the king and queens of Wash.
the people are the servants.
Election done,we will see a change like never before, and it's going to hurt.

506. My understanding is that the President of the United States must be born in the United States. If so how can Sen. John McCain be running for President since he was not born in the United States

507. Sam, this is Tom who interned for you at ABC News when the Monica Lewinsky scandal was at its apex, and later worked with you at WMAL. You look great and I'm glad to hear you are back to work! I wanted to ask your opinion on what kind of message the election of Steny Hoyer as House Majority leader sends to Ms. Pelosi about the need to reach out to moderates in the Democratic caucus.
Tom Moore at 2:40PM on Nov 16th 2006
508. Sam what is your opinion of what message the election of Steny Hoyer sends to Ms. Pelosi on the need for Democrats to reach out to moderates within the party?

509. Message and Reply to Ms. Causey's Dissertation:
Ms. Causey.... You are DEFINATELY LONG WINDED !!
First, let me correct you on a comment you made so that I can defend the good name of my Grandfather who fought and died in the French Resistance during WWII. The statement that France was not an ally during WWII is an affront to all the Resistance fighters who died for freedom and defeat of the NAZIS in occupied France. The French Underground was extremely instrumental in the preparation of D Day. Men risked their lives and their family's lives to slow the German war machine and pass intelligence to England. Vichy France was created because Petain, the French President at the time, was weak and frail and had no choice. He sought to save half of France from destruction by accepting conditions that created Vichy France. Vichy France was NOT France nor its soul. The French themselves will tell you that. France was the French Underground and Resistance that bravely fought throughout the war. That France was an ally of the US and England. Vichy France was France's enemy as well.
As far as the rest of the article your attorney friend wrote, let's get one thing straight, prior to 2003, we HAD a front on the war on terrorism. It was called Afghanistan, the home of those who attacked us. Had we continued to focus on that, chances are we would have been further ahead in our quest to defeat Al Kaida. The Neo Con ideologs decided to attack Iraq, who was well contained, had a dictator that kept his country stable and that hated Al Kaida. We should have had no problem with that -- there are many dictators in the world today that we support, no matter how nasty they are with their people (so long as it serves our interests). Just imagine the success we may have had if the 140k troops would have been in Afghanistan instead of Iraq. Furthermore, everyone was on our side then, the Brits, Germans, AND the French!! The invasion of Iraq was the result of a prefabrication of threats that did not exist in order to justify a means. Remember the Gulf of Tonkon??? That fabrication gave us, under false pretense, reason to fight in Vietnam. Then, we were told that if S Vietnam lost to the communists, the rest of SE Asia and Australia would become communist. It took almost 60,000 American lives, countless wounded, and a near revolution in the US to find out this was not true. The article you mention, wants us to believe that invading Iraq was the right thing to do in the fight against terrorists. Yeah..... about as correct as going into Vietnam.
You want to spread freedom and democracy and Judeo/Christian morals. Did it ever occur to you that some societies just don't see it that way? Why is it that we think everyone should be able to live as we do? Who gives us the right? Who gives us the right that our way is the right way and everyone else is wrong? That 's a bit self righteous, if you ask me. Our form of government and way of life is not condusive to the Muslim world as a whole. Even if you defeat the Jihadis and all the other terrorist groups, the moderate Islamists don't want to live like us, they see us under their breath as infadels, lacking the will to fully live by the laws of God. Even the Koran would not accept our way of life. We shouldn't try to change the way they are no more than we would accept to become Muslims. There's nothing wrong with being different.
The mess we have, I hate to admit, is caused by the West. We created animosities by our lack of commitment to a sound set of ideas, continuity, and conviction. The Brits, French , and Americans are equally at fault for actions taken over the past 150 years. How can you have a trustworthy foreign policy that societies can believe in when Sadam is our great ally in the 80's and our enemy in the 90's and now? The Tallibans were our allies in Afghanistan in the 80's and in 2001 became our enemies. More recently..... Libya's Kadafi for years was our enemy and terrorist sponsor and now we're sleeping in the same bed. What the hell changed there with the exception that he decided to give up nuclean ambitions? Even bigger, what's going to happen when the military dictator of Pakistan is replaced with an Islamist leader. The majority of Pakistanis don't like us already. Imagine when a Fundementalist is put into power and THEY have nuclear weapons already !!
I think we need to be consistant even if it sometimes isn't in our best interest. Being good to one's word is more powerful than any weapon we may use to get our point across. If we are for Freedom and Democracy, then we should oppose ALL dictatorships no matter where or who they are. Not compromising our beliefs and values may finally get people around the world to believe us. That's the first big step. Imagine if we could create peace around the world with peace itself!! What a concept. Afterall, we've been using war to create peace for about the last 20,000 years and it's still not working !
