Fox was in Chicago Tuesday to support House candidate Tammy Duckworth. In their report on the actor's local appearance, CBS2chicago.com interviewed neurologist Dr. Thomas Kelly. He says Limbaugh doesn't have his facts straight:
Right wing zealot and radio talk show hack Rush Limbaugh has accused actor Michael J. Fox of "acting" or being "off his meds" in a nationally televised ad, for the purpose of sensationalizing his Parkinson's disease. The campaign spot is in support of Missouri Senate candidate Claire McCaskill's support for legislation to garner funding for stem cell research.
Fox's disease has progressed where he no longer only gets tremors, which can be controlled with medication, but has more erratic movements which are caused directly by his medicine.
"Chaotic, maybe writhing, dance-like movements, or dyskinesia, the movements I've seen in Mr. Fox, are due to his medications," said Dr. Kelly.
Limbaugh, referring to the TV ad, said on his syndicated show, "He did not take his medication for the purposes of having the ravages and the horrors of Parkinson's disease illustrated."
Fox addressed the controversy: "I'm kind of lucky right now. It's ironic, given some of the things that have been said in the last couple of days, that my pills are working really well right now."
Limbaugh, who has a habit of taking illegal drugs for which he was NOT jailed, has once again dipped into the political cesspool to further energize the Republican base against science over religious superstition, which we all know is the intellectual energy source of Bush Think.

151. Rush is an ass. Although politics do assume their place in finding cures for ALL diseases, Michael's stance on stem cell research and a cure for his own illness is standing up for those who can't be seen or heard. Not taking his meds is the perfect way for the masses to really see the devastation that this disease can be and the toll it takes on the body. I say kudos to Michael J. Fox for the courage and stamina it takes to survive everyday with or without critics belting him down with bogus accusations. It is what it is!! An ILLNESS that nobody should have to endure. People like Michael WILL find a cure on of these days. Keep the faith Michael...many are with you!

154. Typical. Rush says something and everybody out there twists it, changes it, and then lies about it. I listened to the broadcast, and a minute later, in the same hour, after a break, he apologized because he DIDNT KNOW that Fox stopped taking medication for shoots about parkinsons, not to mention Fox even SAYS HES ON TOO MUCH MEDICATION.
And arent you libs in favor of legalized drugs and people doing what they want? What about George Clooney attacking Charleton Heston several times because of his alzheimers? Wheres the outrage over that? Oh right, libs just loooove free speech, until someone uses it against them. Heaven forbid someone give a differant opinion.
AOL, You guys are disgusting. At least FAKE giving a fair report.

155. Rush likes to use the "L" word quite often. But I think this time it really suits him well. LOSER!

156. Rush is one of those idiots who, unless you are with them, you're against them. In this case with Rush Limlard, er... Limbaugh, unless you believe that the republican party is all holier than thou, and can do no wrong, then you are the lowest scum of the earth in his eyes. The GOP (or as my friend at work likes to call them, "Grand Old Pedophiles") has such a tarnished and rusty image as it is. Does that make Democrats any better? No, of course not. Politics stinks about as bad as horse crap, if not worse. Hence, why I don't care to even debate about either one being right or wrong.
With that being said, it takes someone with BIG balls of steel to make accusations, whether false or true to any extent, about a person (celebrity or not) and their medical disease/condition. But to make it a public forum that tears down that person's image for a political reason is.... disgusting. It literally makes me sick to think that people worship Rush Limbaugh and his so-called "words of wisdom" when it comes to anything he doesn't believe in or thinks would not benefit the GOP bastards.
I'm tellin' ya though, if this is the best we have to offer as a whole human race, we are seriously in trouble! Makes me wish if extraterrestrial aliens did exist, please come down and probe the hell out of people like Limbaugh. Hell, let's make it official, just invade earth and take over. I'd rather someone else be in charge than have people like Limbaugh revered for their contempt of human life, no matter how imperfect they are in their eyes.
Just my two cents worth, and seeing how the good ol' Uncle Sam has to take their cut of that, it boils down to .00000000000000000000001 cents.

157. First of all Mr. Rush Limbaugh - YOU of all people need not comment on who is not taking their "PRESCRIBED" medication, maybe you should have skipped some doses of your "UNPRESCRIBED" medication. You have nerve and are so selfish in life that you tried to smuggle in Viagra from the Dominican Republic to heighten PLEASURE in your life, yet M. J. Fox is being bashed for supporting research through stem cell to find a cure for DEBILITATING DESEASES that ultimately turn fatal. It's not like he is pretending to have the desease - HE HAS IT and suffers from it everyday of his life! Why don't you watch a loved one deteriorate in front of your eyes and tell me how that feels. If there is a possibility for a cure, how could you not support that, how could you deprive someone dear to you that chance for life? His ad was not for "Political Gain" it simply is a plea to live!

158. Limbaugh is a pathetic human beingt. For everyone who laughs at Fox above you should all experience this terrible disease, hopefully early in your lives(Before 40, then we'll see how fast you want a cure. Read teh Bible I believe what hate you pass on others comes back to you in full measure. Limbaugh is a drug addict and a liar and should be in jail not on the air preaching to the undeducated and ignorant!

159. The comments made by those who oppose stem cell research, in this instance Rush Limbaugh, emphasizes the ignorance of some celebs..it is "vogue" to speak out against the research...those that speak the loudest usually are the ones that are the least fully informed. I wonder how their views would change if it was themselves or their children who might benefit directly from the research.
Suzi at 9:40AM on Oct 27th 2006
160. Rush is a moron. There is no doubt the subject of stem cell research is controversial and must be addressed carefully to minimize whatever misuse of the technology can be done. Attacking individual's who are ill and voicing their support of a technology that can help the ill, is about as low as you can get. There is debate and there is trash talking. Debate with facts and leave the idiodic insensitive attacks out.
Rush lost his moral high ground when he weezled his way out of jail time for drug charges. As a law student it is discouraging how our legal system can fail humanity sometimes. But I also believe everything happens with a purpose and maybe Rush's stupidity will serve a higher purpose. It's already bought that candidate lots of exposure to her campaign and the issue of stem cell research.
Hope Sir Rush that you should not have to face a ravishing desease in your lifetime that will have you eating your words should stem cell research have been a means to help you. I shall be the first up applauding your misery. May your God have mercy on you.

161. In Response to comment 151 - Josh
Whether you are Republican or Democratic, failure to exercise common courtesy while discussing a topic of importance is no excuse. Attacking an ill person is wrong. Debate is meant to be intelligent discourse utilizing facts and to present each side.
Please tell me, even if he did apologize, that you agree with Mr. Limpbrains ermm Limbaughs actions? I normally stay out of political debate, because people seem to loose all decency, however I support stem cell research and as a registered Republican was quiet disgusted with Rush's actions. We don't all have to agree, but attacking people is plain wrong and show's a serious lack of intelligence. If you cannot defend your views with dignity, then to Rush I suggest he go rub the two bain cells he has left somewhere else and stop disgracing the Republican party with his ignorant and rude debates.

162. In support of Michael J. Fox, I would simply like to state that because of his intent to widely help others through these campaign efforts, I honor Michael J. Fox. As for Limbaugh, your bully-like tactics to gain ratings have served your character no justice. You seem very un-human in the matter in which you blatantly mock dyskinesia. In short, I will no longer listen to your show. Thank you.

163. He was Overacting .The make-up artist even made him look about ready to die......notice the grey under his eyes . You can fool some of the people some of the time , but not all the people all the time
Joe at 7:52PM on Oct 27th 2006
164. It's obvious to me that most of the people who responded to the AOL poll regarding the Limbaugh/Fox issue, did not actually hear what Rush said. They based their decision on media reports, and most of us know how distorted those can be.
Tim at 12:47PM on Oct 27th 2006
165. Michael J Fox appeared in a nearby suburb to support his stem cell case. He was on local television for approximately 15 seconds. HE WASN'T SHAKING LIKE ON THE AD!!!!!!!!
HE'S A DAM PHONY.
