Fox was in Chicago Tuesday to support House candidate Tammy Duckworth. In their report on the actor's local appearance, CBS2chicago.com interviewed neurologist Dr. Thomas Kelly. He says Limbaugh doesn't have his facts straight:
Right wing zealot and radio talk show hack Rush Limbaugh has accused actor Michael J. Fox of "acting" or being "off his meds" in a nationally televised ad, for the purpose of sensationalizing his Parkinson's disease. The campaign spot is in support of Missouri Senate candidate Claire McCaskill's support for legislation to garner funding for stem cell research.
Fox's disease has progressed where he no longer only gets tremors, which can be controlled with medication, but has more erratic movements which are caused directly by his medicine.
"Chaotic, maybe writhing, dance-like movements, or dyskinesia, the movements I've seen in Mr. Fox, are due to his medications," said Dr. Kelly.
Limbaugh, referring to the TV ad, said on his syndicated show, "He did not take his medication for the purposes of having the ravages and the horrors of Parkinson's disease illustrated."
Fox addressed the controversy: "I'm kind of lucky right now. It's ironic, given some of the things that have been said in the last couple of days, that my pills are working really well right now."
Limbaugh, who has a habit of taking illegal drugs for which he was NOT jailed, has once again dipped into the political cesspool to further energize the Republican base against science over religious superstition, which we all know is the intellectual energy source of Bush Think.

166. As a young child I was taught not to make fun of the disabled. I am glad I was brought up that way. My children's Grandmother of my ex-husband had Parkinsons. This was in the 80's and there was so little they could do, but make her comfortable. It was hard just watching her twitch so violently and there was nothing we could do to help her. It progressed so badly, she became she couldn't walk, she became blind. When she passed away, it was seemed like a blessing to free her from all the Parkinsons' symptoms she had to endure in her last years of her life. I say shame on Limbaugh, for not knowing any better, to making fun of a disabled person!!!!! No matter what Mr. Fox was talking about. He was attacking someones disability!!!!!

168. Rush Limbaugh, I agree is a judgmental ass. There are a few things that he should remember though. #1 - People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
#2 - The people who are upset about this issue, should be upset, but should also remember one thing, CONSIDER THE SOURCE THAT YOU'RE DEALING WITH #3 - What goes around, comes around.
I don't think that Michael Fox was putting on or acting, but what about Limbaugh, from what I understand, he is lower than whale crap & you can't get much lower than that. There have been radio DJ's and talk show hosts that have either lost their license or been kicked off trhe air because of their poor judgement, so why should he be any different, because he is certainly no better. As kids, our parents teach us not to stare or make fun of someone who is different or who has a disability, make me kinda of wonder, what was he taught as a child, because as an adult, he definetly has NO MORALS! Dont' worry about him, Mr. Fox, he's nothing and the best part about it, HIS judgement day will come!

170.
To ignore a potentially powerful cure for so many diseases is ludicrous. I've was pro stem cell reslearch prior to getting multiple myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow) and am even more so now after stem cell replacement literally saved my life. I have been in complete remission for almost seven years and without the stem cell therapy would most likely have died within 1 or 2 years after contracting the disease.

171. I'm not surprised that a political satyr-ist has finally put his foot in his mouth far enough to see that where the leg starts looks the same as where it's going. When the bulk of your work involves spewing venom in an attempt to declare yourself perfect, well, it's a matter of time. The only effect this will have is that the other beltway blasters (on both sides) will slow down for a while and make better jokes for a few days.
Where Plush Phlegmball goes wrong is in mixing attack based comedy and being a politically one sided speaker. This paints you in a quick corner and it's hard to dance out without the honesty of showing your own faults. Wet paint is slippery too. The first two falls should have told him to take a break. (Just look at O'riley.) He tried to just keep going like he could do no wrong.
Making comment on any issue is at the risk of becoming an issue yourself. We get distracted so easily when we should be in a debate. Sure, we should be talking about the politition, and not the supporter. But winning the argument has become more important that finding a resilution. In American politics the art of debate is in the emergency room, and it doesn't look good.

172. As a physician who has been paralyzed for over 23 yrs as a result of an MVA and have lived and experienced both sides of the fence, doctor and patient. I once again was appalled at Micheal Fox's Missouri political commercial. DISGUSTING !!! Although, he has the freedom to speak his piece on this issue of stem cell research and travel the country doing the same elsewhere, Mr. Fox has made himself a self promoting ACTIVIST and is now open to criticism. Whether he was on meds or not is really not the point. It was the fact that he is promoting an idea that still bears no merit, has shown NO positive results and doesn't state the potential problems with this research. Like potential "downstream cancer", etc. Many of his statements were out right lies perpetrated on the viewing public.
Stem cell research is one of several good ideas to work on, but to say with authority that it will cure everything from his disease to my paralysis is absolute HOGWASH and gives false hope to many listening to him. 1) Pres. Bush, not Clinton, was the 1st President to ALLOW STEM CELL GOV'T RESEARCH, 2) THERE IS MUCH STEM CELL RESEARCH GOING ON AT PRESENT IN MANY LABS THROUGHOUT USA (UNIV. AND PRIVATE) AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD - ISRAEL, SOUTH KOREA AND MANY OTHERS ALONG WITH U.S. GOV'T RESEARCH FUNDING ALLOWED UNDER BUSH, but with commonsense restrictions !!!!!!
There has yet to be any close success in the field, while both adult and chord blood cells haven't been fully explored ....
He admitted to get dramatic effect at the Congressional hearings by not taking his meds (he may have gotten his point across to some level), but he never told Congress afterwards he pulled that stunt!!! (*loss of credibility and almost perjury in my book) and giving false hope to those in the affected community.
Also, after that shameless ad and stating that is how he usually is ..... I trust the statement Rush made more than his statement because he sure doesn't seem to project those ticks, etc. when filming BOSTON LEGAL or at political gatherings he currently is brainstorming throughout the US for his Democratic candidates. And to say folks like Sen. Talent and others are almost crimminal has cost him any moral, ethical or trust on this issue.
