Fox was in Chicago Tuesday to support House candidate Tammy Duckworth. In their report on the actor's local appearance, CBS2chicago.com interviewed neurologist Dr. Thomas Kelly. He says Limbaugh doesn't have his facts straight:
Right wing zealot and radio talk show hack Rush Limbaugh has accused actor Michael J. Fox of "acting" or being "off his meds" in a nationally televised ad, for the purpose of sensationalizing his Parkinson's disease. The campaign spot is in support of Missouri Senate candidate Claire McCaskill's support for legislation to garner funding for stem cell research.
Fox's disease has progressed where he no longer only gets tremors, which can be controlled with medication, but has more erratic movements which are caused directly by his medicine.
"Chaotic, maybe writhing, dance-like movements, or dyskinesia, the movements I've seen in Mr. Fox, are due to his medications," said Dr. Kelly.
Limbaugh, referring to the TV ad, said on his syndicated show, "He did not take his medication for the purposes of having the ravages and the horrors of Parkinson's disease illustrated."
Fox addressed the controversy: "I'm kind of lucky right now. It's ironic, given some of the things that have been said in the last couple of days, that my pills are working really well right now."
Limbaugh, who has a habit of taking illegal drugs for which he was NOT jailed, has once again dipped into the political cesspool to further energize the Republican base against science over religious superstition, which we all know is the intellectual energy source of Bush Think.

16. Rush is a drug addict who has used his money to stay out of jail. Steven King said it best "Addicts lie about EVERYTHING". It's what they do, it's their nature. The sad thing is, Rush was probably ON his medication while doing his show.

17. Rush Limbaugh is an ass. Sadly, there are people out there who will believe him, and still admire him. May the powers that be give him the opportunity to see exactly what life is like with a debilitating disease. Maybe one day he will see what it's like to no longer be able to control his own body, or care for himself. I hope he eats his words.

18. Rush Limbaugh is the perfect example of the current rash of idiotic, hypicritical jerks running around in our country poking fingers at everyone but themselves. He should give it up and return to rehab. and then seek seclusion on an uninhabited island where the jerk, he is, belongs.

19. Rush has had his own issues, and apparently that has left him more callous then ever. Micheal may be off his own meds to show what his illness can do. Personally I think Rush is back on his own. He does look like it.

20. Rush Limboughs comments are an attack, on someones elses less fortunate medical conditions, and since Rush cannot defend his drug use he looks for other avenues to take attention away from his own shortcomings. "His mouth is to big for his Brithches", and he needs to speak about issues that are relavant to the matters at hand and not someones "so-called" acting abilty, on an important issue that needs to be addressed and corrected, like Parkinsons disease, and drug addiction, so let Mr pompus talk about those things.....I know freedom of speech, at what was he expecting to gain from this? It really does not matter, Rush needs therapy.....

21. rush, the man on so many drugs himself, and likes liars and killers, should be comitted. he has been a mad dog on the loose long enough. who listens to his show anyway, or better yet who is sponsoring his show.? they cant be careing people and they must be rich and powerful or rush would go back to supersizeing at the drive thru.

22. I heard Rush and agree with Comments #1. As to "mouthing off", most of the objections are not to stem cell research but to the government funding of cloning for the use of stem cells.

23. Rush needs to turn the mirror on himself and see what needs to be done to better himself, and be an example not an instigator of poor judgement and comments about Fox's comments on stem cell research.

24. Hands down, Limbaugh will be viewed as the villan
in this unfortunate scenario. Michael J. Fox is so beloved by everyone and wants to see a cure for
him and millions. However, there is something bigger than Michael J. Fox and that is the truth.
May the truth be the the ultimate winner. If Michael J. Fox is using his celebrity, his illness
to deceive, to mislead, this is worse than what Rush has done. You are accountable in health as you are in sickness. We can not dismiss the fact
that if we were in Michael J. Fox's shoes that we too could succumb to whatever means to achieve the desire result-cure!. The American public must see through this political manuever and vote what is right. I believe Rush realized the implications on challenging Michael J. Fox and he felt it was necessary to expose this. I applaud him for doing this. He knew the consequences and is willing to
accept it. I can not say the same for Michael J. Fox, he was and is an activist in health as in sickness. Let us not forget this!

25. LIMBAUGH IS AN IDIOT. HOW DARE HE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT SOMEONE WHO HAS SUCH A DISABLING DISEASE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND LIMBAUGH SPEWS CRAP CONSTANTLY. FOX IS JUST TRYING TO SHOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO HAVE THE DISEASE AND STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH THAT CAN HELP MILLIONS!!!

26. It is sad that Rush Limbaugh would display such a lack of concern and not show more compassion for someone with this dreadful illness. It isn't until you are "there" (stricken) that you will ever know the devistating effects this illness has on the individual and their families. You see Rush has a choice with his affliction, he can take the "cure" stay clean and sober and he will do fine. On the other hand unfortunately Parkinsons doesn't respond to a 12 Step Program. Me and many of my friends and family have thought Rush was a person who is full of themselves, hatefull and uninformed. Now he has opened his mouth and removed all doubt of his ignorance. With or without the mega dittos....

27. I am so angry with what "Rush" has accused Michael J. Fox of doing: Making up, or adding to his movements.. Excuse Mr. Limbaugh: I have a movement disorder also, and I would never make up my movements.. It's too hard!! So many people have accused me of doing this for attention.. Attention? Do you think I really want to have Dystonia? Dystonia is a sister/cousin disorder to Parkinsons. I am so outraged, I will never listen to Rush ever again, and will send him an angry letter!!!!!!! I can't believe he was so ignorant about a movement disorder!!!!

28. The Stump is a perfect example of media bias, it has two comments on Rush Limbaugh's side and SEVEN profoundly against. The lead by Micheal McCarthy itself shows the left wing liberal bias of the entire column. Only one side of the issue is shown or talked about. Facts are meaningless to you people. I saw the TV add and got the same impression Limbaugh did. Fox is a good actor, and really enhanced it by not taking his medication, now thats show biz.

I don't have a problem with Rush Limbaugh, but he did notice the same thing that I noticed, and it's this: Mr. Fox seems to be able to turn his symptoms of Parkinson's disease on and off at will. ~Dawg~Click to play sound: Dog Bark Snarls http://journals.aol.com/incoming663/DawgBytesfromTheRealBigDawg/ www.therealbigdawg.com

30. I am someone who could possibly benefit from stem cell research. I am very grateful to the high profile celebrities who bring neurological disorders to the consciousness of those who are fortunate enough to have not been touched by Parkinson's or MS. Bravo to Mr. Fox if he indeed decided to abstain from taking his medication in order to allow the public to see the devasting effects of his disease. Should Mr. Fox have appeared in the ad to be in complete control of his body movements, Rush (because he does not deserve the respect to be addressed as Mr. Limbaugh) would have questioned the validity of the illness itself. Sit down and shut up, Rush. We have no desire to listen to the ignorant ramblings of a drug addict. Take medical advancements out of the hands of the corrupt politicians. Thank you to Teri Garr for making it her mission to enlighten people about the struggles of living with MS and helping to remove the stigma and mystery of this disease.
