Fox was in Chicago Tuesday to support House candidate Tammy Duckworth. In their report on the actor's local appearance, CBS2chicago.com interviewed neurologist Dr. Thomas Kelly. He says Limbaugh doesn't have his facts straight:
Right wing zealot and radio talk show hack Rush Limbaugh has accused actor Michael J. Fox of "acting" or being "off his meds" in a nationally televised ad, for the purpose of sensationalizing his Parkinson's disease. The campaign spot is in support of Missouri Senate candidate Claire McCaskill's support for legislation to garner funding for stem cell research.
Fox's disease has progressed where he no longer only gets tremors, which can be controlled with medication, but has more erratic movements which are caused directly by his medicine.
"Chaotic, maybe writhing, dance-like movements, or dyskinesia, the movements I've seen in Mr. Fox, are due to his medications," said Dr. Kelly.
Limbaugh, referring to the TV ad, said on his syndicated show, "He did not take his medication for the purposes of having the ravages and the horrors of Parkinson's disease illustrated."
Fox addressed the controversy: "I'm kind of lucky right now. It's ironic, given some of the things that have been said in the last couple of days, that my pills are working really well right now."
Limbaugh, who has a habit of taking illegal drugs for which he was NOT jailed, has once again dipped into the political cesspool to further energize the Republican base against science over religious superstition, which we all know is the intellectual energy source of Bush Think.

91. I have never liked Rush or his "show" where he berates all who do not share his exact point of view. This incident just shows what an idiot he is.

92. Stem cell research could actually hold the key for the cure for diseases like this. There are other forms of stem cell research not just embryonic. I do not believe in the destruction of human life, but does anyone know where the embryos come from? They usually come from embryos that are deemed unfit, and are going to be discarded. Why shouldn't some good come from it instead of it being thrown away.

93. Simple Fact: FOX LIED...he said the Republican was against stem cell research. THAT IS A LIE, STRAIGHT OUT. The Republican is against embryonic stem cell research while supporting every other form of the study. FOX LIED...its not a matter of his disease, and what causes his appearance to shake. Fox uses his disease to promote his cause, and that's his right...but, FOX LIED...and THAT IS THE TRUTH. I like him, enjoyed his career, but is sad to know, FOX LIED TO YOU, ALL OF YOU.

94. Rush was not mocking Fox--was just pointing out the
lie that was being told. Fox WAS off his meds to
try and sway votes. Fox knows better and so does his foundation. He is just another Hollywood Lib.
also your headline wrong.

95. If Mr. Fox is acting, I would like to commend him on a job well done. Mr. Limbaugh needs to realize that the real atrocity would be if Mr. Fox was not acting, or if he were on medication, then we would not get a true glimpse at this disease in its rawest form. Isn’t the Republican Party being contradictory? They are accusing Mr. Fox of magnifying the disease if he is acting, wouldn’t he be down playing the disease if he were on medication?

96. My sincere wish for an asshole like rush is that
he gets the disease he is making fun of.
then he can see how it feels.
fox's life is not a made for tv movie yet.
rush, get killed
paula at 1:18PM on Oct 25th 2006
97. Rush was stating a fact that probably FOX was off his meds. Turned out that was true--Fox knows what he was saying was a lie--as does his foundation.
Another Hollywood lib trying to sway the voters.

98. AT LEAST THE DRUGS MR FOX TAKES ARE LEGAL, FOR A REAL ILLNESS.
THE DRUGS THAT THAT JERK LIMBAUGH TAKES ARE NOT LEGAL, I THINK OXY IS AN ILLEGAL DRUG.
RUSH IS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BLATHERING FOOL, WHO WILL SAY ANYTHING TO STAY ON THE AIR AND TO STIRR UP MUD AGAINST THE DEMOCRATS. HE DOESNT EVEN CARE IF WHAT HE IS SAYING IS TRUE OR NOT.
HE FOUND OUT REAL QUICK IT WOULD NOT WORK ON THE SPORTS CHANNELS, HE GOT TOSSED GOOD. NOW IF HE WOULD GET TOSSED FROM RADIO WE COULD ALL SAY GOOD RIDDANCE.
BROCK at 1:23PM on Oct 25th 2006
99. EGO CAN BE EITHER A GOOD THING OR BAD THING. MR RUSH HAS SHOWN THAT HIS IS BEYOND UNDERSTANDING. APPARENTLY HE HAS A SHORT MEMORY ON HIS ANTICS. HE MUST BE LOSING HIS MIND, OR HAS AMNESIA. HE CERTAINLY ISN'T LOSING ANY WEIGHT. HOW'S THAT SLIMFAST WORKING FOR YA RUSH?
BILL KELLER at 1:18PM on Oct 25th 2006
100. rush is a republican mouth piece case closed!!!
james melton at 1:20PM on Oct 25th 2006
101. One more thing to notice: The article AOL published (AP/CBS)to get to this blog....IT'S FULL OF HALF TRUTH AS WELL....it's just awful what they print and we never challenge....

102. i heard what limbaugh said when he said it and what he said was Fox was off his medicine or he was acting. and indeed Fox was touting an issue that was hidden in the stem-cell research which is the whole problem. either Fox was dupped by the dems or he is part of the lie.
bill at 1:28PM on Oct 25th 2006
103. Can I say foolish and how many ways one can look that way. Rush, hello!! What were you thinking, Oh I know showing your true self! And Rush supporters, this is not the time to back his foolish behavior.
Dharma at 1:20PM on Oct 25th 2006
104. Anyone who says Mr. Fox is off his meds does not know the incredible power of this disease and the side effects of the medications. I have parkinsons and if I thought it would help me and Mr. Fox and all the others that live with this disease, I would tape a commercial without my meds. But as a person fighting this disease I dont think Mr. Fox was off his meds or acting. I believe his movements are the effects of his medications. I praise him for his bravery in coming to face a camera and millions of people in his condition.
Bonnie Lowery at 1:22PM on Oct 25th 2006
105. Why is it that embryonic stem cell research supporters do not look at the success adult stems cells have had? There have been major breakthroughs in adult stem cells and yet these people don't even mention them! If I were a person with parkinsons, that would be the research I would support.
From what I understand, embryonic research experiments on rats continues to create tumors.
I don't understand it.
