Realizing that the U.S. Congress needs a little humor, Al Franken is set to announce that he will run for the United States Senate seat now held by Norm Coleman.
Sen. Coleman is one of the most vulnerable Republican senators up for re-election in 2008, but I am not sure that Franken is the right person to unseat him. Coleman ran for governor several years ago but lost to Jesse Ventura. Coleman has also belonged to both the Democratic and Republican parties.
Franken has a political PAC, and last year raised over $1 million. He spread it around to some successful Democratic nominees in other states. They will probably come to Minnesota to help him out.
Even if he loses, there should be a lot of laughs in this campaign.

2. That's all Minnesota needs - another liberal, left wing comedian - and he really is not funny. Sarcastic is a better word for him.

3. I think that Franken would make a great senator not only for his wit ( a time proven skill for a senator dateing back to the Roman senators ) but also for his intellect and ability to see through "slangism" and "jingoistic" politics to the truth of any issue as well as the effects of a policy on the future .

4. He fits right in with that party but it's tough to add humor to a group that supplies so much already.

5. Franken is a joke, no pun intended. But if anybody will elect someone like this to the U.S. Senate it would be Minnesota.

6. Al "Jazeera' Franken's never been funny. He wasn't funny ever, on Saturday Night live, and he's been a complete fool ever since.
AOL forgot to mention in its "SNL to Senate" blurb that Franken's only business experience in-between SNL and today, the lowly vulgar Hot Air America, has been bankruptcy.
But hey - he's running in Fritz Mondale's state. If they have enough Perot voters who determined the 2006 election, he could make it.
Ancient Romans annointed a horse as a senator. America could have its first horse's ass.
But funny? The photo of him's deceptive. He's KNOWN as a bitter iconoclast. And a supporter of Al Qaeda.

7. I guess another jackass in the Senate is par for the course based on the November elections.

13. He's actually a very bright individual. He has been correctly and boldly speaking out regarding issues of unfairness and injustice. He's no joke. He's got a lot of good thoughts to contribute about many farcical situations we are presently encountering. Additionally, laughter IS the best medicine.

First A worthless Wrestler for GOV.

15. No one listen to him on failed liberal radio. Funny is a matter of perception! He is not funny!
Vindictive, far left,he should fit right in with the liberals.
