Could it be the start of something big? Might it only be a matter of time before rural municipalities in Alabama and Kansas follow suit? Don't hold your breath. Vermonters are a proud group, known for their independence, their ice cream, and Socialist Senator, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that they're out front on the impeachment issue. And while this story will be easy for some to laugh off as nothing more than an idea "firmly outside the political mainstream," it does come on what is shaping up to be a particularly bad week for the White House.

2. Campuses throughout the nation should be following Vermont's lead--a state where common sense rules, and a state, more often than not, ahead of the rest of the country.
Compared to the Vietnam era, campus life today is dead as a door nail. Faculty and students are almost mum. We have a nation of dead heads who will push zzzzzs as their constitutional rights under this president erode and are trampled upon with arrogance and impunity.
Impeach Bush and Cheney and make sure Speaker Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, and the candidates for the presidential nomination, Republican and Democratic, get your message loud and clear.

3. "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 | Source
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002 | Source
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
- President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 | Source
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 | Source
"We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction."
- Madeline Albright, Feb 1, 1998 | Source
"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983."
- Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998 | Source
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs."
Letter to President Clinton.
- (D) Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, others, Oct. 9, 1998 | Source
"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."
- Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 | Source
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999 | Source
"We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and a threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and th! e means of delivering them."
- Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 | Source
"We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 | Source
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 | Source
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 | Source
"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..."
- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 | Source
"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 | Source
"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 | Source
"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction."

4. These people ought to be ashamed of themselves and their towns as a whole. President Bush is our President and a hell of a lot better President than Clinton ever was - Bush has accomplished 0plenty and on top of it had to clean up all the messes the Clintons left. How about sneaky Clinton pardoning all those felons on his last day in office. How about Hiliary's two brothers who got paid over $400,000 to L:obby for the release of two of the felons that CLINTON pardoned on his last day in office. How about Sandy Burger, Clinton's aide who stole classified CIA documents that were offending to the Clintons - Burger didn't get an6y jail time yet Libby gets years for alegedly saying something about a token CIA agent who had connections to Clinton. Give me a break - Impeach our President Bush - these stupid people are barking up the wrong tree - if they were in Russia or China they would be thrown into jail.

5. This administration is built on personal loyalties. Integrity and competence are not prerequisites for service so long as one can demonstrate loyalty to the party and the administratin in particular. Combine this approach with a veil of secrecy and unprecedented control of the dissemination of information, and the result is a loss of creative thinking and competent planning.
Messengers are rewarded for bringing welcome news and purged for delivering the truth if it is not in line with the administration's path. Everything is vetted by the Whitehouse. George Tenet, prior director of the CIA was pushed aside by Cheney and Rumsfeld for urging caution regarding the integrity of sources of intelligence concerning Iraq's WMD program. He was gradually pushed out of the inner circle and Rumsfeld grabbed control of the intelligence operations, finally firing him.
Colin Powell urged Rumsfeld to reconsider his plan of using only 134,000 troops to invade Iraq. He was concerned with the US's ability to occupy a nation as large as Iraq with so small of a force. He did his duty, however reluctantly, speaking before the UN. Rumsfeld and Cheney pushed him out of the inner circle as well. Result, Condy Rice. She has not expressed an original thought since Bush appointed her. Whe was rewarded for her loyalty, not selected for her competence.
The US Army has an Inspector General Corps. Why did they not report the conditions at Walter Reed? My theory is that they did. We have all heard about the lack of funding and poor conditions of facilities and equipment of the miltary and national guard units in the US. This is not want military commanders are told to listen to or respond to right now by the Joint Chiefs, the Department of Defense, and especially this administration.

12. THE PEOPLE OF VERMONT ARE RIGHT IN THEIR DECISION TO PRESS FOR IMPEACHMENT OF BUSH AND CHENEY.THESE TWO BUMBLING,THIEVING,LYING,HYPOCRITES LIED TO GET TO GET US INTO IRAQ.IT WAS REVEALED LAST WEEK BUSH CHERRY PICKED THE INFORMATION FROM THE INVESTIGATION OF IRAQ AND THEN TWISTED THE FACTS TO FAVOR HIS AND DUCK CHENY'S AGENDA.THEY LIED ABOUT THE REASON FOR GOING INTO IRAQ AND HANDED EVERYONE IN THE SENATE AND CONGRESS FALSE INFO ON THE WMD'S. THEY KNEW FULL WELL THERE WAS NO WMD'S BY THE RESULTS OF TWO INVESTIGATIVE TEAMS,THE U.N. AND BUSH'S HAND PICKED TEAM. BOTH RETURNED WITH THE SAME RESULTS,NO WMD'S..AND THEN BUSH LIED TO THE WORLD. THESE LIES HAVE COST THE LIVES OF OVER 3100 OD OUR WONDERFUL TROOPS AND OVER 23,000 INJURED WITH OVER 12,000 OF THESE MAIMES FOR LIFE. THE DEATH TOLL OF INNOCENT IRAQI MEN,WOMEN AND CHILDREN DUE TO THIS FIASCO HAS HIT OVER 160,000. CHILFREN SINCE BUSH ILLEGALLY IN YES,THEY NEED TO BE IMPEACHED AND THEN PUT ON TRIAL FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AND HOPEFULLY HUNG FROM A STRONG OAK TREE FOR THE INNOCENT LIVES HE'S COST. I DON'T NEED TO HEAR ANY REMARKS ABOUT THE EVIL EMPIRE OF SADDAM AND HIS ATROCITIES. THIS HAPPENED BEFORE THE GULF WAR AND OLE MAN BUSH COULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF SADDAM THEN BUT INTELLIGENT PEOPLE TOLD HIM NOT TOO. THEY KNEW IT WOULD UPSET THE ENTIRE REGION AND NOW LOOK AT THE MESS.YEAH,THERE'S NO DOUBT IN ANYONES MIND THAT THIS APPOINTED NON-PRESIDENT HAS A COCAINE COOKED BRAIN. HIS ACTIONS PROVE IT.

13. To put it mildly the American people are idiots. The reason America will fail to be a superpower in the future is because of the incessant breading of these idiot's who all cry about their rights. Two idiots should never ever reproduce, but they do and they create an ever bigger idiot. It is theses idiot's who have no access to what goes on in our government yet want to rant and rave about the war. This country is at war. We are attempting to turn a country into a democracy that has never before had those rights before. Do you people not realize what a difficult task that is? This is being done to protect our country's future as well as for the good of the Iraqi people. The reason countries like China will eventually be more powerful than the United States is because their people don't constantly and publicly degrade their leaders. The American people of today are a disgrace; most can't even successfully maintain their weight. The American people can't even put in the effort it takes to live healthy; with so much media attention on obesity, it's disgusting. Take for instance this war; it takes time, dedication, and a decision to make a lifestyle change by the Iraqi people. A diet takes time, dedication, and a lifestyle change; most people can't do that, they are always seeking an unsuccessful quick fix, just like their solution to this war.

14. Post 911 America is not the same as it was.I wish our elected officals could spend our tax dollars for more important issues like a new health care sysem, fixing social securiy, feeding the homeless and finding a cure for cancer, edjucation, and especialy our countries security here at home. We spend billions of dollars fighting wars in other countries and millions of dollars on profecional sports each year, yet we are unable to feed, house and protect all Americans. When will we, as a nation, pull together, set aside our differences and get our priorities strieght?
