Could it be the start of something big? Might it only be a matter of time before rural municipalities in Alabama and Kansas follow suit? Don't hold your breath. Vermonters are a proud group, known for their independence, their ice cream, and Socialist Senator, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that they're out front on the impeachment issue. And while this story will be easy for some to laugh off as nothing more than an idea "firmly outside the political mainstream," it does come on what is shaping up to be a particularly bad week for the White House.

46. Hurray for Vermont, which has the purest form of "democracy". But I don't understand why anyone says we were "mislead" into this war and that Bush and Cheney should be impeached for misleading us. There was no misleading. Anyone who does more than listen to mainstream media and did an ounce of thinking knew that we were going into Iraq because the Bush-Cheney gang WANTED to go into Iraq--for oil and bases and Haliburton, etc. This is not "conspiracy theory" and it is not speculation. It is fact. However, there is none so blind as he who WILL not see. God Bless Vermont!!!

47. If Ginger thiks China is so great why doesn't she go there. The reason they follow their leaders because they don't have democracy.

48. At least the people of Vermont were polite to one another and did not attack one another personally. It is not difficult to see that many of the individuals who continue to support the current administration and its policies, are more concerned with being on a "side" and with hurling epithets at the other side rather than facing the truth. Were we asked/was Congress asked, to go to war in Iraq to give the Iraqis a democracy? NO. Were we told that there was a direct connection between Sadaam Hussein with his WMD's and the terrorists involved in 9/11 and that we had better fight them "over there" to keep us safe "over here"? YES Did the Iraqis ask us for a democracy? Do they want a democracy? Evidently not.
Does anyone even care how many Iraqis have been killed or that their country has been bilked of BILLIONS of dollars and their infrastructure is WORSE than it was BEFORE the war? NO
CAn you be a patriotic citizen and disagree with your president? YES I will bet money that people who hate/hated Bill Clinton did NOT think they were being unpatriotic and supporting terrorism during his administration. But now we are at war and I am not proud of that fact. We invaded another country for no reason except that our leadership decided we should. And now we are supposed to support anything our president does because he's the president? Seriously, what if our president, not necessarily this one, were insane? Would it be the patriotic thing to do, to support whatever wrongheaded thing he did?
Someone said Americans are idiots because they don't support the president. I guess I'm an idiot because I don't think any man if infallible.

49. Call me liberal if you want but people in our free country DIEING for those who do not believe in our way of life is ridiculous. We made our point, what's done is done. Now, we need to protect our borders more than ever!

50. To impeach a President he has to have done an impeachable offense - SORRY - he hasn't. Just because they don't agree with him doesn't mean we get rid of him. This is a Democratic government. If anyone should have been impeached it is Clinton for lying under oath about Monica.

52. I do not agree with everything Bush has done. (mainly the illegal wiretapping, which I think he should answer for) But he did not "condone" torture. The soldiers did that because they wanted to. There was no order actually telling them to! As for the Geneva Convention... Why the hell should we care about that? I think we have the right to lock terror suspects up without a lawyer. Did the terrorists seem concerned about the Geneva Conventions?? I dont remember that when they were chopping heads off on tv. Oh thats right!! The Geneva Convention says to watch them cut our peoples heads off and then kiss their butts! Wait what paragraph was that??? Get real people. If your in a fight and your opponent plays dirty do you sit there and get beaten up or do you start playing dirty back? I dont think Bush has done anything worth being impeached over. I think people should stop worrying about impeachment and how the poor, poor terrorists are being treated and focus on electing someone worthwile into office.

53. What a waste of time, energy and taxpayer dollars.
Nothing new for the good Socialist ice-cream-for- brains citizens of that rogue state. Face it.
Impeaching Bush is a pipe dream. The process took years for Clinton. Bush has less than two left. If the Democrats had any charges other than that Bush is a Nazi, they'd start on impeachment hearings in a heartbeat. Perhaps the good Marxists of Vermont should be more concerned about a judge who issues a 60-day sentence to a pedophile who repeatedly raped a young girl from the time she was 6 until she was 10, or the legislature's refusal to stiffen penalties with Jessica's Law. Is their hate for Bush more important than that? Or, more likely, is the protection of the rights and so-called "rehabilitation" of pedophiles more important than their children getting raped or murdered by repeat offenders? If so, so be it. They made their own bed. They can lie in it. Then again, I suppose they can always blame that on Bush, too. Vermonters, you suck ass.

57. President Bush admits he LIED about going to war in Iraq. HE ADMITS HE AND HIS ADVISORS KNEW THERE WERE NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ! AS A LIAR, HE IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEATHS AND INJURIES OF ALL INNOCENT AMERICAN SOLDIERS! AS ARE ALL GUILTY AMERICANS WHO ENDORSE HIS ANTICS!
