I know that it's not a major 'get' or anything, as they know each other well and come from the same state, but it does give more oxygen to the Fred Thompson draft movement.Bill Frist at the volpac blog:
I believe Fred Thompson should run for President.Speaking of the Chris Wallace interview, the transcript is here.Thompson has been getting a lot of attention lately and it's easy to see why. He's a fairly doctrinaire conservative at a time when there are no real conservatives in the race (Romney, Giuliani), or they have problems (McCain, Gingrich). Fred Thompson, if running, would instantly become the default conservative candidate. In the GOP, that's a pretty powerful starting position.
I've not talked with Fred personally about a potential run, so I am basing my thoughts simply on knowing him well, having worked with him in policy and politics everyday for 8 years, and knowing the people across America want a genuine leader who represents them.
Fred understands real people and they understand him. He understands the legislative process and has a strong bipartisan appeal, though he is a real conservative.
He has the experience of government service with a real appreciation for all three branches of government. He is a commonsense leader.
The big question is whether he's really serious. He has to demonstrate the seriousness and some moves toward organization and money. Right now it seems like he's playing around with the idea.
Personally, I'm lukewarm on the idea of Fred Thompson. I like his chances in the general election, I like his positions, but in his career I've never seen him out in front fighting. That's not a serious knock, we've just gotten to know him and his achievements are absolutely nothing to sneeze at. Fred will be a serious contender and will take a serious bite out of someone's support.

1. Thompson is getting a head of steam and there is another Rudy Giuliani drag queen video where he says: "I already play a Republican playing a Democrat playing a Republican." Video can be found at http://www.solidpolitics.com

2. Now that the media has done such a great job of Identifying a conservative candidate (Fred Thompson) who holds conservative values, conservatives must go the next step and ask if this man can govern our nation with wisdom.
A humanly wise leader is good. But a man with godly wisdom (like that possessed by King Solomon) has an advantage at handling the complexities of this world.
This type of wisdom rises above ordinary thinking. It is a rich resource that is very much needed today to handle our nation's difficulties. When the wisdom of God is present, no problem, no terrorist, no Muslim ideology seeking death to America, no fiscal problem will be too big for God to handle. This is true hope for a nation in crisis.
The next President must have the ability (his past should attest to this) to assemble a team of wise men and women who can rise above the political squabbling and begin moving the nation forward (with good policy). It would be best if such a leader had a past that demonstrated his ability to successfully lead a massive organization through many ups and downs. An ability to successfully chart and navigate rough waters.
We must make sure that our next leader is culturally sensitive to the foreign nations that America finds itself involved with. By understanding what makes the foreigners tick, we have a much better chance of working out international solutions that are acceptable to those foreigners. We must understand and consider their values and culture BEFORE proposing/imposing American solutions upon them.
Also, it would not hurt for this nation to take inventory of the strengths and weaknesses of any man who ultimately captures this nation’s highest office and make preparation to assist him in areas where he is known to be weak. That’s preparatory planning. It’s not a bad thing.
Can Fred Thompson perform? Or do we say, "Next"?

3. where do i begin? fred thompson for president, what a joke!! does anyone remember him on the roseanne barr show, he "played" a tyranical manager who forced roseanne to conform and stop speaking out on the bad working conditions of her factory job by threatening the workers with sweat shop hours or unemploymet. to make matters worse he amended this threat with roseanne's promise to stop complaining about the injustices and be his puppet. do you see any correlations to the bush/cheney mentality of unpatriotism vs. questioning authority. it didn't seem as though his acting is that far from his real political views.
