Switching from exploratory committee mode, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas announced that he is formally jumping into the 2008 fray. Get more details or watch video of the interview above (That's part 1. Here are links to part 2, 3 and 4):
Appearing on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal," Paul said he was at first reluctant to run, but that "a lot of people want to hear my message and I'm willing to deliver it."Don't know much about Paul? Here are a few factoids: Currently in his 10th term in the House, the Republican from Houston has served from 1976-77, 1979-1985 and 1997 to the present. He ran for president once before, in 1988 as a Libertarian candidate. And as an obstetrician-gynecologist, he's delivered over 4,000 babies.
...
"I'm very confident the Republican party has gone in the wrong direction," Paul said in his C-SPAN appearance. "We used to be the party of small government. Now we're the party of big government."
Paul lately polls in the 1-2 percent range. Can he compete with the top tier candidates for the Republican nomination? Leave your thoughts below...

31. Ron Paul - is the only honest candidate standing. Let's just hope the rest of America realises this.

32. Ron Paul, & tom Tancredo; are the only two decent Americans running for president. The rest of the GOP, & all of the Demagogues; are trash.

33. Ron Paul is the only one I could vote for. He doesn't carry a facade of someone that he's not. He is a true patriot! We so desperately need someone like him in the White House-I will support him 100%!

34. With our Creators help and lots of work we will bust loose from this currupt, evil, parisite, government and return to our blessed Constitution through the election of Ron Paul. Bless you Ron Paul.

35. trying to talk about Ron Paul on KGO Radio in San Francisco is impossible. I tried to ask the censor on the Dr. Bill "Strangelove" Wattenburg show twice if I could ask DR. Bill who he thought won the republican debates and why Ron Paul seems to be blacklisted and I wasn't allowed to ask these questions on two consecutive days. The censor was rude and just hung up on me. So,if you are a KGO listener, just remember they are the most censored new world order disinformation station on the west coast. I will NEVER listen to them again but I will spread the word about their disinformation or lack of reporting things that should be reported on.

37. Fox news is certainly NOT spin free. This was obvious on the last debate as well as the following interviews. Hannity & Colms (?) both argued with him displaying their personal opinions of Ron Paul and twisting (spinning) what Ron Paul actually said and meant. Also, a question or two was presented in a very suspicious manner - to Ron Paul.
Yes- I will vote for Ron Paul if given the chance- this is a fresh voice and deserves to be heard regardless of how much the "main stream media" dislikes it.

38. Rep. Paul is the first candidate I have been truly impressed with in years. He is a true American and is a person both parties can rally behind. I will not say what party I am with but I will say he shares my beliefs. I believe he shares the beliefs of most americans.

39. It was great to finally hear someone admit last night that the reason we were attacked (9/11)is because we keep attacking other countries and pissing off the rest of the world. I'm an independent and if the election was today, I'd vote for him. Everyone else is in denial and trying to show off their pride. This is hardball and finally someone in the republican guard and spoken up.

40. I never heard of Ron Paul before. I am a democrat but actually voted for Rudy once. NEVER AGAIN.
This Paul guy is smart.

41. Ron Paul had the class to respond with a recitation of verifiable fact when Rudy the RINO took his cheap shot and misquoted Paul's comments by accusing Ron Paul of saying the USA invited the 9-11 attack. Only an idiot would be unable to accept the premise that our prior world interventionist practices MIGHT have had some impact on the crazy fundamentalists as they picked targets for their reign of terror. Blowback seems too tame a description of the situation. Ron Paul will receive my financial support now, and my vote if he makes the ballot. Bill in MI.

42. I am a registered democrat, was leaning toward McCain back in 2004 when he had common sense and didn't kiss up to the republican party. Unfortunately the democrats have a lot to learn as far as going with the flow and making can speeches to appease the masses. I see something in Ron Pearl attitude that has peak my interest and would like to learn more about his stand on the most troubling issues that the Bush, Clinton and Bush presidencys created.

43. Ron Paul is the best option. It is just about common sense
