Look out Iowans: John McCain and his "Straight Talk Express" have teamed up again for a tour of your state. For the next two days the tandem will be rolling through the first-in-the-nation caucus state in search of election momentum. From AP:
"Deja vu all over again," the four-term Republican senator said as he embarked on a two-day bus tour of Iowa with his wife, Cindy. The 2000 McCain campaign came up with its "straight talk" slogan to capitalize on the Arizona senator's image as a maverick. These days though, McCain's independent reputation has been tarnished by his lockstep support with the Bush administration on the Iraq war.
"I'm very happy with where we are right now," McCain said of his campaign, dismissing national polls that show him trailing rival Rudy Giuliani. "We're fine."
Another thing is different since the days of '00: the fact that McCain is stumping for primary votes in Iowa at all. He skipped the state to focus on New Hampshire last time around.
Now that McCain has the band back together again, can he get his campaign rolling? Or has too much changed in the past six years for him to rely on that old "Straight Talk" tune?

3. McCain and "straight talk" don't go together at all. He takes one side, then another, then something else. He has become a joke.

4. mccain better get a new bus & have his pretty wife drive it up front ,if he wants to win . she is more attractive to look at than he & will draw more crowds -then he can try to sell his ideas -hillary is much easier on the eyes than he .

8. Straight talk means telling the bad news along with the good news. I'll be interested to see how he does with that. So far, the bad news about the war hasn't helped him.

9. He's not in lockstep with Bush. McCain would have fired Rumsfeld years ago, or not hired him, and we would have more of the right troops and equipment instead of stalling the war for Halliburton profits.

13. The only votes McCain can count on are from the illegals that he holds so dear. We expect this sellout from Democrats, but to have a pro illegal Republican running is suicide for him..polls state 70-90% of Americas want the illegals tossed out, not given amnesty by the kennedy/McCain/la Raza amnesty plan.

14. I would have voted for McCain had he been the nominee instead of Bush, but there is no way I would vote for this turn-coat today. He thinks more of the vote than he does the American people and what they desire. We want OUT of Iraq and we want the illegal immigrants OUT. What does he not understand about OUT? Kennedy and his ilk, too.

15. I think Mccain would make a good President, better then the others that are running.
