The 'Save Khalid Sheik Mohammed' Movement Begins

The "Save Khalid Sheik Mohammed" movement has officially begun, and it is being assisted by two senators, Carl Levin and Lindsey Graham. They secretly went to the military tribunal last weekend to observe the tribunal for KSM that was held, and during the tribunal KSM alleged that he and his family had been mistreated during his imprisonment at Gitmo.

This is to be expected, since even the al-Qaida training manuals that have been unearthed and posted on various official Web sites tell the terrorists, if they are apprehended, to claim mistreatment and torture at every chance they get. The terrorists know that human rights activists and senators such as Levin and Graham will turn themselves inside out trying to protect the terrorists "rights" in order to attack the administration and to receive adulation in the press.

Now the media has also taken up KSM's cause. The Associated Press, using the convenient "anonymous officials," claimed that Mohammed made up some of the claims, and printed some of his mistreatment allegations. They didn't bother to note, however, that the claiming of mistreatment is a tactic of the terrorists. And is it that important that KSM exaggerated some claims? Perhaps so, but it doesn't matter.

We have known that he was the mastermind of at least 9/11 since shortly after the attack. The rest of the information is interesting from an intelligence standpoint, but the level of truth of his confessions is only relevant in so far as he might be hiding the involvement of others. But the level that the AP story rises to, in attempting to "clear" KSM of some of the attacks, is just silly:
Mohammed claims that he was "responsible for the 1993 World Trade Center Operation," which killed six and injured more than 1,000 when a bomb was detonated in an underground garage. Six jihadists with ties to international terror networks are serving life sentences. One official said Mohammed didn't hatch the plot, but he and elements of al-Qaida may have supported it.
Message to AP: you could have included in that part of the story that Ramzi Yousef, the leader of the bombing plot under Sheik Omar Abdel-Rahman (he was blind, so he needed help), is Khaled Shaikh Mohammed's nephew. And that it has been proven, through bank records, that KSM, acting as al Qaeda, financed the attack! I hate lazy reporters with an agenda.

And now we have the spectacle of the two senators who observed the tribunal, Levin and Graham, demanding that an official investigation be opened to investigate KSM's claims of mistreatment. I'm certain that KSM's cries of torture has been heard before, by the military and the Red Cross. If the senators want to privately review the info, that's fine. But to announce an official investigation is just silly. I have yet to see either Levin or Graham state for the record that claiming mistreatment is a common tactic of the terrorists to gain sympathy. That's because they have both politically profited from such claims.

Our enemies are laughing at us, as they should.
