Louisiana Governor Katherine Kathleen Blanco is set to announce that she will not run for a second term.
The interesting thing is that LA had an election right after Katrina hit, she would have won in a landslide because the media was too busy slamming President Bush and FEMA and defending Blanco that the horrific mistakes she made were totally glossed over.
The failure of her and Ray Nagin to act when a) they had ample warning and b) a hurricane of this magnitude was predicted for decades shows how incredibly inept she was in handling the situation.
Now that the citizens of Louisiana have had a year and a half to ponder her performance, they've decided that she is not who they want leading them. They saw that she shifted the blame to everyone but her self, while the evidence has shown that her failures were among the most egregious.
Note (2/21/07 2115): I mistakenly titled this as "Katherine" when her name is Kathleen. My apologies to the forced out outgoing Governor for the error.

2. The last thing Louisiana needs or this country is
another republican in office. Blanco could have done better if it wasn't for the corrupt republican
party. I live in Mississippi and they're painting
over wat is still horrible. Bush comes down with our Govna' and photo-ops in front of a newly built
house and says look how great our republican gov.has done and doesn't show the still devastated
Gulf Coast. La. you had better vote democratic. Just look at the shape of our country.

3. WHo in the hell is Katherine? The gov. of La. name is Kathleen. O.K.-so like most La. politicians-who are Democrats-they are lazy and only looking for a title. I knew that she wasn't in over her head and the souther, male red neck good ole boy network didnt help-neither did other Democratic females like Hillary Clinton-so let some more Republican oil politicians get into office and screw up the state even more.

4. Maybe she and Nagin were hoping Katrina would hit Mississippi instead. The picture stuck in my mind is all those school buses lined up for an evacuation, but no drivers. That's the story in a nutshell. No drivers.

5. Having lived in Louisiana most of my life, but having served my country and traveling the U.S. and serving my country, I can honestly say IT WAS BLANCO'S FAULT!!! From the time she took office no one liked her. Her first Bill she passed everyone said "OOOOOOH NOOOO, WHAT HAVE WE DONE!!!!" Personally I sat back and said "yeah, what have you done????" because I didn't personally vote for her. I voted for Bobby Jindal, and I really had to do my homework on who to vote for, cause I really didn't know either one of them. My mother always told me though..."Don't vote for a party, vote for the person" and that's what I did". I voted for Bobby because he looked like the better judgement. Then Katrina happened and every little judgement she made she stuttered. In a big hurricane like that YOU DON'T HAVE TIME TO STUTTER...It's like in the Nike Commercial says "JUST DO IT". But she Not only stuttered...she waited and waited for someone to make that judgement for her. The Mayor sat in a hotel on the top floor and cried and did NOTHING. Then the president waited for the both of them to do their job He thought that Fema would do his job, but he forgot that he hired a joke. He took the blame which was right for him because he did hire a joke. Then he stepped in and got the ball rolling....but you know what? He was the only one that did do anything...Blanco has been in hiding since in Europe, that Mayor...he got rehired by shipping people from other states that don't live in New Orleans anymore (that's dirty, man). It kinda makes you want to move away from Louisiana unless we get Blanco out of office.

6. to #3.... Katrina DID hit Mississippi, not LOUSIANA. New Orleans distruction was because of your faulty levies Another LA DEMOCRATIC Government issue. At least Mississippi is rebuilding from this horrific nautural disaster that took place in MISSISSIPPI, and not crying and complaining like LOUSIANA!!!

7. I was born and bred outside of New orleans. And currently live for the past 10 years on the mississippi gulf coast. I know first hand where that storm hit and it wasnt New Orleans.. But who cares right? what is done is done...Get Blanco out.She hasnt done a damn thing but flap her lips since the storm hit. The reason nothing is being done in New Orleans is because the lawlessness that is still running rampant. In Mississippi, we have droves of volunteers. such a wonderful site i tell you! but, they are wanting to go to New Orleans but there is no safe place there yet. And that problem should be handed to nagin and blanco.

8. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the Governor of Louisianna a Republican before Kathleen? Also, wasn't Ray Nagin a Republican previously? To blame the fiasco in Louisiana on Democrats is moronic. The evacuation was awesome. The percentage of people evacuated was greater than any American city has ever had. Not only that but it was done with a National Guard that was diluted and ill-equipped due to the conflict in Iraq. The Federal response was weak and ineffective. The fearless leader didn't even show up for three days... Just like at the World Trade Center bombing. So level the blame where it belongs... Good job Bushie.

9. Democrats! Democrats! Democrats! Blanco was a joke. Millions and milions of dollars given to New Orleans for levee works over the last 50 years and little of it made it to its intended purpose. There have only been two Republican governors in Louisiana since after the Civil War. Nagin is a joke too. Hell Louisiana is a joke. They re-elected Nagin and the thief Jefferson after he took the $100,000 bribe. The state gets exactly what it deserves. It has been exposed as little more than a replica of a third world country.

11. There hasn't been a politician from La. that wasn't corrupt. The state has always been in finacial trouble. If nobody liked Ms. Blanco, how did she get elected? Every time a mayor or gov. turns out poorly, you can't find anyone that voted for them, amazing.
David Rosenberg at 12:17PM on Mar 21st 2007
12. Not only Blanco, and Nagin are at fault for why NO is still mostly in shambles. The Lazy culture, and 2nd and 3rd generation "system sucking" welfare abusers that have been bred into that area over the years will continue to be its downfall. I just got back from a cruise that went to many ports in the western Caribbean that have been slammed a number of times in the last few years, and you know what? The PEOPLE dusted themseves off and rebuilt. no bitching, no waiting for action from others, the just did it!! And we call them third world? LOL!! The welfare culture in NO needs to really be looked at, and the Democrats need to stop spoon feeding these poeple.

13. Im tired of people crying about our Goverment on its responce to Katrina, Fema was never set up to be the First Responder, its a back up support system to your Local Goverment, Im not defending anyone but lets keep it stright ok, I spent a year and a half working in LA helping out and spent over 100,000 of my own money there helping so I really know alittle something about who did what, and personaly you put the Mayor back in and your gonna keep getting the same Treatment from your local Goverment!

14. to#3 - there were plenty of volunteer drivers - school district drivers ready and willing to drive thoswe busses. Red tape involving Nagin's office would not allow them to do so - something about liability insurance?? Now, that's a crime!

15. The fact of the matter is (as very well documented) "Blanco Blew It." Not only did Blanco blow it but so did Nagin. I love how the simple-minded liberals try to dupe the smart-minded American public by blaming the response to Katrina on President Bush. The true facts are that Blanco & Nagin (at the local level) failed miserably to respond to Katrina and protect their citizens. Both Blanco & Nagin have blood on their hands.
