In what was a most enjoyable day on Capitol Hill, Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), finally got to question Al Gore on his support of global warming. Gore did not fare so well:
WASHINGTON, DC – Former Vice President Al Gore refused to take a "Personal Energy Ethics Pledge" today to consume no more energy than the average American household. The pledge was presented to Gore by Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, during today's global warming hearing.
Gore of course refused and muttered something about his home and businesses being "carbon neutral". Carbon neutrality is, of course, a sham cooked up by energy grubbing liberals to make themselves feel better about their wasteful habits.
Gore looked and sounded like a man who was in a battle of wits, unarmed. Inhofe was better prepared and the recent hit piece on Gore by the NY Times probably didn't do much for his self confidence. The Times piece and other media are suddenly changing their tunes on the global warming issue, either because they know Gore would get creamed if he chose to run for president or because they think he may draw votes away from Hillary.
Here's more on this as it happened. And here's a video making the rounds:
Exit question: If Gore was the environmentalist he says he is, why is he only "carbon neutral"? Why is he not living in a house that not only is green, but produces enough electricity to send back into the grid? Why did Gore not build a house such as this that used no electricity. Why be "carbon neutral" when you could just as well be "carbon positive". The answer to all these questions is because he is a hypocrite.

1. Why don't you show how boxer slapped him down when he tried to take over the hearing you republican jerk!!!!

2. I'll refer back to the politician's credo:
Do as I say, not as I do.
But give Al some credit. He's found an issue that resonates with his supporters, and he's running with it. (All the way to the bank?)

3. Frankly, challenging someone in a public forum like that to sign a pledge which is probably not possible for the (presumably ancient) Gore mansion is political farce at a pretty low level, and reflects on the character of the political showman who clearly has other things on his to do list than to seriously consider the consequences of global warming and associated environmental problems.
I don't see anyone calling President Bush a hypocrite as a vocal Christian for violating the commandment "thou shall not kill", while launching an ill-conceived war. Who is surprising him in front of national media, asking him to sign a pledge to obey the tenants of his faith?
Nobody is, because it's a rude, crappy thing to do. It's undignified, and doesn't help our nation figure out how to solve the national challenges before us. I'd speculate that the Senator had goals other than helping our nation out when he issued a challenge with no possible answer.
Look: so far, humankind has discovered approximately zero species that are self regulating enough to live with their environment without external controls from disease or predators. From bacteria to baboons, when confronted with a closed system without external controls, every species exploits the system to its maximum advantage, grows its numbers to the point of utilizing its total food supply, and then pollutes its own environment....and then most of the species in the closed environment dies. Sometimes they all do. Sometimes not all of them do, but the entire species never really recovers. The planet Earth is a closed environment. It's huge...and it's finite. When precisely do you think there will be enough people running around being people, making reasonable decisions the way we all do, (and the way that Al Gore has presumably done for his house), with the collective result being an inefficient & sloppy management of the planet….how many people to do that and for how long before we start seeing changes in our closed environment?

4. WHAT WERE YOU WATCHING? Sen. Inhofe was shown to be the spiteful, small minded , ignorant , little man that he is. Gore's responses were delivered in a focused, factual, articulate, and at times moving manner. Why would anyone view what Gore says (and the leading scientific minds of the world say) as a personal attack? Why is this information not viewed on ALL sides as a non-partisan rally to save our planet? Inhofe is an example of those who "lead" not for what is truly in the best interests of his constituancy, but what best serves the interests of those who finance and therby control his own pathetic agenda.

5. Scott,
Please take a pledge that you and Inhofe are "grey matter nuetral"...
An "Evisceration of Gore"...your choice of words does not match the context... One "debowels" their game in the wild...or perhaps at a Red Lobster sit down..
I think you are running out of Okie Republicans to champion?? Grand Ole' Pathetic..

6. Again libs. You argue the action and not the substance. Gore is a sham and Inhofe proved it. There's no such thing as carbon neutral.
You all get a bit worked up when your dogma is questioned, don't you. It must be that lack of faith in the global warming cause and your anointed "prophet" megawatt Al.

7. ARE you kidding. this asswipe Republican got his privates cut to shreds.........you should show Barbara Boxer.........and he was like a gnat in front of GOre. 8. Can you say WIENIE!!! If Gore couldn't handle questions as easy as this on a subject he is suppose to know, boy am I glad God chose Bush. This guy is was and always will be a Joker.

Hmmmm....I didn't say I was a lib. What I said was that Senator Inhofe's comments are political theatre. My own opinion is that we should expect better from our elected representatives.
I doubt there is a way for Al Gore to legitimately sign Inhofe's pledge with integrity. That doesn't make him any more or less of a hypocrit than anyone else, you and I included. This scene was an ambush, the behavior of which makes me question the Senator's integrity much more that Mr. Gores.
Substance is the discussion on, and progress towards, preserving species survival. One can only presume that Senator Inhofe's actions betrays his fear of substantive discourse.

10. Global Warming is a political movement inspired by socialism. The goal is to establish another bureaucratic elite that is not elected into office but rather appointed by the government.
We have seen similar movements in organized labor, the classification of "minorities" for special rights, compulsory public education, nationalized banking and the Keynesian economic model, poverty, and a whole host of others.
The only entity that wins are big government lackies (like Al Gore) who find ways to make money off the taxes we pay to the government.
In terms of what Al Gore is doing, the man is no scientist and his sources are almost entirely flawed. Global Warming as an Environmentalist argument is a hoax. There is no proof indicating that Mankind is influencing global climate changes.
There is certainly enough evidence provided by both sides of the religious debate (Environmentalism vs. Science). This evidence supports whatever theories that want to conjur up. But there is no PROOF that Mankind can even compare with what Mother Nature does to herself on an almost regular basis. Mankind is just not that powerful.
Also, if it is of the Earth, it cannot destroy Earth. Things might get rearranged (like your perception), but that energy is never lost.
The real question to ask yourself is the same one Senator Inhofe asked: "Are you willing to live by your own credo?"
People like Al Gore will always find a way to sidestep that question. The reason is because they are in this for power, money, and affluence - not their stated cause.
If Al Gore wanted his purported vision of a clean Earth to come to fruition, he would stop the double-talk and follow his own advice. (That's what a leader - or religious prophet, in Al Gore's case - would do.) He won't, however, because he would have to alter his glamorous lifestyle.
The man is a hippocrite, to say the very least, but for anyone to support him vivifies their own ignorance of and blind faith in the wicked religion of Environmentalism.
It is obvious that people who tell others how to live are clearly looking for a religious following based on some notion of faith or reverence. What an ego.
More so, the ignorance required to be a slave to someone else's idiology is sad. Imagine all of us peons not driving our cars anymore just to watch as Al Gore and John Kerry drive by in their Chevy Suburbans.
Clearly Al Gore is part of that menacing and radical left wing extremism that wishes to control us all in the quest for an empire. Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer, and and other big-time socialists are obviously doing the same. If you cannot see that, you are clearly meant to be their slave. (But you will feel better believing you "helped save the environment, kids, workers, women, old people, racial minorities, and poor people." All the while you will pay ever-increasing chunks of your labor compensation (paycheck) to the government in order to pay for your masters and their appointed friends.)
Have a good day, but think American... fight against socialism!

11. Algore is an idiot. To reduce emissions like he wants would send civilization back to the dark ages. He is only fooling Hollywood. When they find out what it would mean to their lifestyles they will drop him like a hot potato. Also, I would like to know who took the satellite readings in the year 1900 to confirm the 1 degree temp. rise.

12. Ten years ago we were told by the same "scientists" that we were moving to a new Ice Gae - now were are burning up. Coffer was bad for you , don't eat chocolate both are now considered good for you.Warming is something , like cooling that has been happening for centuries and is a natural thing. More greenhouse gas is prodiuced but cattle than humans. Should we kill all the livestock on the planet?

13. Al Gore was robbed by an unscrupulous republican machine. He should be our sitting president. He is smart and right about the environment. Inhofe is a big fat idiot.
