Jim Gilmore is running for president. He wants everybody to know that he is a conservative and always has been. In an interview published in the conservative publication Human Events he said: "One thing I don't have to have -- I don't have to have a $100 million to convert myself into being a conservative."
In his interview, Gilmore said McCain was not a conservative but made his reputation out of being a maverick. He pointed out that Giuliani endorsed Cuomo over Pataki, supported gun control, was pro gay marriage and pro choice. As far as Romney, he stated that Romney was liberal and all his liberal statements could be verified on video tape. Well, that covers the top three Republican candidates for the presidential nomination.
In my earlier piece (linked above), I had pointed out that Gilmore, former Governor of Virginia, is a true conservative. Despite this fact, he isn't really registering in any of the polls. Maybe the Republican Party is turning moderate. Nelson Rockefeller must be smiling up in heaven at the state of today's GOP.

1. A conservative candidate is what the Republican base is looking for. But the base may not write the ticket this time, for either party.

2. The only Conservative in this dog fight is Governor Jim Gilmore. For one John McCain is not a maverick, but a true Liberal in sheeps clothing. Mitt Rommney has his liberal idea's by signing into law a Hillary type care Health care plan in MA. and it takes a village to raise a child, And now he is trying to move so fast away from this plan that he is about to trip of his own feet. Rommney is another Liberal in sheeps clothing. Rudy is really democrat posing as a republican. So why did he support a dem over his party's choice for Governor. Answer the Question Rudy. As I pointed out above Governor Jim Gilmore is the only really Conservative and Republican in the race. All I ask of the Republicans and Conservatives is to take a really good look at Governor Gilmore, and if you have friends or family living in VA. Call and ask how he did as Governor. By doing research on all the Republican Candidates Jim Gilmore stood out among the so called leaders. A survey conducted by HCSGroup
of the Residences of VA 65% or more stated Governor Gilmore did an outstanding job and he really cares for his fellow Veterans and Active Duty Members.
All I ask you to do is take a few minutes and look at Givernor Gilmore's web site.

4. Gilmore as President? Oh, sweet sufferin' succotash. Sure. He took a state that was in excellent fiscal condition and in just four years almost bankrupted it.
We really need another "borrow and spend" Republican in the White House. Sure we do.
What we really need is a politician with a sense of fiscal responsiblity when handling our money. Of course, that's a fantasy.

5. Charlie Seif is right on. I am a resident of VA, now and when he was governor- he indeed showed very poor fiscal responsibility. Did away with the car tax, which in turn severely affected our huge, growing road problems since we now have to seek more money for road and bridge improvements. It was streictly a political move, not a smart or warranted one.

6. As a Virginia native I can say as a fact Gov. Gilmore is a moran that doesn't realize if you don't have money you can't spend it, sound like anyone we know?
