Gilmore Whacks Converted Conservative Candidates

Jim GilmoreJim Gilmore is running for president. He wants everybody to know that he is a conservative and always has been. In an interview published in the conservative publication Human Events he said: "One thing I don't have to have -- I don't have to have a $100 million to convert myself into being a conservative."

In his interview, Gilmore said McCain was not a conservative but made his reputation out of being a maverick. He pointed out that Giuliani endorsed Cuomo over Pataki, supported gun control, was pro gay marriage and pro choice. As far as Romney, he stated that Romney was liberal and all his liberal statements could be verified on video tape. Well, that covers the top three Republican candidates for the presidential nomination.

In my earlier piece (linked above), I had pointed out that Gilmore, former Governor of Virginia, is a true conservative. Despite this fact, he isn't really registering in any of the polls. Maybe the Republican Party is turning moderate. Nelson Rockefeller must be smiling up in heaven at the state of today's GOP.
