Nice scoop by MyDD.com, who have John Kerry on tape saying that political handlers for John McCain approached him regarding the possibility of the senator from Arizona joining the Democratic presidential ticket. This news comes on the heels of reports that John McCain apparently approached Sen. Tom Daschle in 2001 about caucusing with Senate Democrats, wresting control of the chamber away from the GOP (Jim Jeffords beat him to the punch).
The senator's presidential campaign is already reeling from disappointing fundraising numbers for the first quarter. His biggest strength is that he has a huge number of small dollar donors, many of whom probably won't mind that he flirted with crossing the aisle. But as these reports go public, the big money in the GOP will turn off even more.
At this point, Senator John McCain's only remaining path to the presidency may well be as a third party or independent candidate. It's got to be an option his advisors are weighing.

62. CD RHYS is the only intelligent clear thinking comment on this site. We have so many pansy liberals in this country that it will be the death of us. I wish people would wake up.
As someone that has been all over the world, the war itself is not the issue. It is the way we have fought the war. Engaging in a fight with one hand tied behing your back is not a way to win the war. There are to many tree hugging liberals that like to live in fantasy land with mickey mouse and gang to understand that with war there is colateral damage and unpopular decisions have to be made. You fight to win quickly. You save more lives in the long run.

63. Don't know why I am commenting on such a dastardly subject, guess it is someing in my soul telling me to...you do believe folks have souls don't you? Stuff like this aren't worth commenting on and usually folks that comment are ugly and fat or ultra slim and are seeking justification for their life style and commenting gives them the reinforcement to continue such a terrible lifestyle, usually they need psychiatric treatment but guess making comments serves same purpose.

67. Wow, what a bunch of arm chair QB's ! So thankful none of you are the president of this great countty. Sure there were mistakes made, but in what war has there not been mistakes. Real leaders don't go with the flow, they pursue what they feel is right. They have more information to make a decision, and on one here commenting on this blog or any other can has any information that can help protect this country. Slinging venom/hatred at our leaders does nothing but embolden our enemies. Ever thought why we haven't been attacked again? You people must feel it is an accident that we haven't been attacked, but know that it is our brave men and women in the military, law enforcement, that have protected your sorry tails since 9/11. Where in the world did you get this loser's mentality? If this is the feeling of the majority of Americans, hope you enjoy living under Sharia law !

68. its just too bad that politicians are a necessary evil..they keep good and evil in balance by every thing they do..i think it would be great to find out how we'd all survive by using our own brains and common sense..could it get any worse???

71. I agree that King George has not had the best record as President, I voted for him twice and do not regret it one bit. We as humans do make mistakes in life, but we all deserve the unconditional support of our "families". The American people are George's family and regardless of all that has gone on we need to show support and stop the real infidels from feeding off of all this bickering. Mcain will not be considered a viable candidate until he stops being a Senator first and spends more time in the field campaigning. As far as joining with Lurch, forget it, as soon as Kerry opens his mouth to insert his foot, the rest of the campaign will be spent trying to extract this idiots appendage. Age has nothing to do with a persons abilities to do the job they choose, and their real world experiences should make up for anything that states otherwise. Reagan was THE BEST President of the modern era, don't ever forget it!

72. Few people will make it to heaven according to the Bible. So I am not surprised that few people support the president. God commands us to respect our leaders even if we don't agree with them. The comments by most of the people on this board are strong evidence that they are headed for hell. Of course all liberals are self-righteous and Satan has them convinced that they are good people because they do not want God or the truth.

73. How soon we forget...9/11 hordes of people waving the flag, patriots to the bone, run into problem and hordes run with their tail tucked between their legs, a sorry lot we are...the part of the world where lives are not thought of as soo valuable, only strength, power and resolute following the choosen path will get you the safety you seek. As long as we have news and politicians that so actively try to take any power this country shows down, you will lose, because when you show weakness you have lost and looking at all the printed, TV news I understand the problems our President faces, he not only has a enemy accross the ocean he has a stronger enemy in his own country. If I were a terrorist I know I only have to wait and the taken will be easy. This country has no stomach to stay the course.
Just remember things that are not easy are usually worthy things.

74. I am sorry to say this but it doesn't really matter who is the Republican nominee in 08 because once HClinton selects Vilsack as her running mate it is all over. I really do not see a "great republican candidate out there. GOP members do not see why Vilsack endorsed Clinton. This will help her solidify the mid-west and bring the Arizonas and Utahs into play for her.

75. Your comments: I am really impressed with any and everything Kerry has to say!! Just like I would be if his name was still HANOI JANE- HE IS THE EPITOME OF A TRAITOR.I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT THAT TRAITOR DID TO OUR SOLDIERS IN VIETNAM. KERRY ALONG WITH KENNEDY SOLD OUT OUR SOLDIERS - KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS WAS AFTER kennedy VOTED FOR HIS BROTHER JFK TO DRAFT AND SEND OUT TROOPS INTO VIETNAM TO FIGHT - THIS WAS BEFORE THEY SOLD THEM OUT!!! LEAVING MANY TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES. I WILL NEVER COMPREHEND IN MY LIFE TIME WHY SOMEONE WOULD VOTE FOR SUCH TRAITORS, AND BOTH FROM MASS. THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRIED FOR
TREASON A LONG TIME AGO. THEY STILL SHOULD.
