It's been a tough week for Sen. John McCain after the Republican presidential hopeful proclaimed Iraq safe. "He will win in America," Abu Samer, a kitchenware and clothing wholesaler in Iraq, told the New York Times, "and we will have nothing." And do McCain's denunciations of Iran seem a little less believable in the wake of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's release of British captives? Bob and Susannah discuss in the latest "Running Gags."

1. If we can make Iraq as safe as Los Angeles, it'll be time to leave.

2. It looks like the McCain Express has been detoured to Baghdad? The road to the White House doesn't go anywhere near Iraq, the winners are running away from it. Republicans are calling this surrender, cut and run, and whatever slogan they can think of. America calls this sanity. We can't fight an endless war just because we can. It takes real courage in our values to recognize that Iraq is an occupation. It takes real courage to give Iraq the same freedom that we would demand. It will take real courage to find enough Americans that are not afraid to place trust in God, not Bush. Thank God, there are term limits.
