In a recent article by Richard Tenorio, the question was asked "Will Imus Hurt Obama." The answer is yes.
Imus messed up bad and most importantly he insulted young women who deserved much better. However, to ask that he be fired because he is a racist is ludicrous. This man has insulted and demeaned people throughout his career without discrimination. He has attacked leaders of both parties. He has thrown his support to Republican and Democratic candidates and yes, to black or white candidates.
Today, Imus is ranting about his past support for Harold Ford, the Democratic nominee for senator in Tennessee. Harold is African American and he has not come out to support Imus. The time to support your friends is when they are in trouble. It is always easy to support a person when they have done nothing wrong.
Now let's move to Al Sharpton. As a presidential candidate, he was a failure. He found little support. His candidacy allowed him to perform as a celebrity. He wants blood. Whether it hurts the candidacy of Barack Obama is irrelevant. In fact, I would suggest, a President Obama would weaken Al Sharpton. Who would listen to him rant about the racist white people just after they have elected a black president. In my research, I found an blog written in January 2007 indicating that Sharpton doesn't care for Obama. In a more recent article, it was stated that Sharpton questions Obama's blackness.
Now, let's turn to Jesse Jackson who has had his share of mouth problems. Remember when he referred to New York as "Hymie town." That was in 1984 and the interview was with a black reporter. Jackson did not thing the remark would be quoted. Funny how these religious people fail to heed the comment by Jesus when he said, "he who is without sin can cast the first stone."
Yesterday, Obama finally was forced to support the firing of Imus. He caved in. Let us see how this whole controversy effects Obama. If we see a decline in support, you can thank Sharpton and Jackson.

16. I think you are all a bunch of cry babies, one thing is said and then we got to blow up. What ever happened to the phrase, Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me. MY GOD GET OVER IT! The man admidtted his mistake that is more than more people can do. What happened yesterday is done and over you cannot bring it back and do it over. So forget it. Or is this going to be just an excuse to throw a stupid law suit to make your pockets fatter?
Its really sad that the player took the whole thing better than a so called Rev. Al.. what a joke something more to cry about.. ;ets make another scene.
GET OVER IT STOP THE CRYING AND WHINING... THIS IS AMERICA!

17. you know its so funny that you people can use the "N" word so freely and the names of bitches and ho's dont you think that is calling the kettle black? us white people have to say the "N" word but you can call each other the real word and call every woman a bitch and ho and that makes no difference.. have you ever stop and thought if maybe you cleaned up your act then it would not be such a big deal???? Especially the so called rappers.. We need to stop all the ahte here in the US or we are going to be at war right here in America and we are to be free and to have free speech.

19. Damn "these people" piss me off and yes im talking about black people. The Rev.Al Sharpton and the Rev. Jesse jackson once again show that true racists are colored black. For these men nothing less than Don Imus on his knees to apologize then shoot himself in the head will do.They and only they know what is proof that someone is truly sorry for ANY stupid thing ANYONE says.As far as they are concerned no one can say ANYTHING about race unless they are named al or jesse.Where are the apologies to the three Duke Lacrosse players whose lives were ruin ed by a REAL nappy haired ho'with her false accusations of gang rape at the hands of rich white fratboys? Why isnt al or jesse condemning the untrue accusations of the woman who truly IS a WHORE and cost those young men their reputations? This dirty ho' had FIVE different semen samples in her underwear when it was tested!!The things said about these young men by al and jesse would have INFURIATED the black community had they been black and their accuser white.Al and Jesse will NEVER apologize to ANYONE because they are NEVER wrong when it comes to race. They are right and the rest of the world can fuck off as far as they are concerned.Did al apologize to the police officers he slandered when that other nappy haired ho'Tawna Brawley falsly cried rape? Jackson wasnt taken to task like imus was when he referred to new york as "Hymie Town"The only niggers here are al and jesse, they see racism only when its a white person, its directed against the black community, and fits their own personal agenda of opportunism and divisiveness and will get them a little national news coverage. They are the worst example's of Hypocrites and Stonethrowers. They will never stand up and say to the American people "I am sorry for any inflammatory comments i may have made made before i knew all the facts" as this would entail taking resonsibility for their actions, being men( as the black community is so fond of claiming to be)and admitting they were wrong.I fully support Don Imus' right to say what he said to whom he said it and i hope he continues to say provocative things to ALL who deserve or even dont deserve it.Maybe these black retards will shut the fuck up and go back to the projects now that imus has been fired and the rest of us can get on with our lives...but probably not.

20. Imus was wrong , and admitted it . The worse part was to see the piling on of every " im scared for life "person . And CBS , The Cowards Broadcasting System ran in fear, instead of giving Imus the chance to right the wrong. As for the ranting of Al," where s the camera "Sharpton ,and Jessie "hymietown " Jackson ,the backlash to your hypocracy will show up in Obama loosing the Democratic nomination. Now , watch that happen. .

21. I am so sick of hearing the blacksgo to extreams about everything, everytime a white man says a racist remark. Black radio staions say remarks everyday, and nothing is said. The only reason the black man is getting his way is because they stick together. When will the white man learn!I the black has set himself back 100 years in race relations. He has made this white bitter, And who do you think it will be taken out on!

22. I think Al Sharpton is more rascist than the KKK and the Arian Nation put together. I think he should listen to some gangster rap and here how the blacks represent whites and women in their songs and how many times they use the word hoe or rap about killing cops or worse. Al Sharpton is only making things worse and making himself famous.

23. I'm afraid this has set race relations back decades. I'm a boring white middle-aged woman and
so are my friends. We're all well educated professionals of various political persuasions. I
have heard (and said) things that I never dreamed
I would hear out of our mouths. It's scary.

24. It is not difficult to agree with the sentiment. What is different about this Imus incident from all other Imus incidents? Seemingly not much. A shock jock -- albeit one who courted an uppercrusty guestdom -- is what Imus was. Shock jocks say shocking things. The only thing surprising about these comments were that they were shocking.
But something different DID happen here. It was not the Sharptons and Jacksons who did Imus in. It was the advertisers. Neither CBS nor MSNBC fired Imus because of his comments. The fired him because the advertisers decided they'd had enough and would no longer pay the freight.
Why did this happen? Simple: that's the way the wind was blowing.
And that is why the notion that this Imus incident will harm Obama is, quite simply, off the mark.

25. If Obama caved to the pressure under this BS. How is he gonna react in a time of national crisis if he is elected president???? Dont think he will get my vote!!
David at 2:01PM on Apr 13th 2007
26. I am a registered republican..and had planned to vote for Obama..no way now..there is no way you could have people like Jackson and Sharpton messing around Washington if we had a black president.. Obama is only a memory now in the midwest.

27. if al and jesse would keep there shit flappers shut may be the gov. of n.j. would not be were he is today and could be for a long time but what to hell he's only a stupid white man what do they care.OBAMA IS OUT NOW WE NO WHERE HE STANDS WITH WHITE FOLK.

28. The Obama cabinet is starting to come into focus. It will include Attorney General Al Sharpton and Secretary of State Jesse Jackson.
Additionally, what kind of Christians are the "alleged" ministers? A man goes door to door apologizing and seeking forgiveness. Their response is to slam the church door in his face.
Obama, I think not.

29. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson 2 peas in a pod. I'm not putting Obama in that pod. He has my vote.
