The "We the People" spot features nine supporters who urge Congress to not back down. It suggests members just keep sending Bush "the same bill, again and again." The commercial is primarily a Web-based initiative, though it will air on TV in the Washington, D.C. area.
We all know that Web 2.0 interactivity and social networking sites are all the rage for the 2008 election. John Edwards is trying to take that model to the next step in his planned follow-up ads. From the AP:
The ad will also run on the Edwards' Web site as well as on YouTube, the popular online video site. Edwards wants viewers to post their own personal messages to Congress about Iraq. The campaign will then incorporate those messages into future Web ads.Do you think it will work? Talk about the ad in the comments below...

17. Is the United States Congress deaf? Already the great genius Petraeus is telling them that this will be a long, long surge. Today, Secretary Gates reiterated the fact that the Iraqi conflict will be long. We keep moving the target dates. The success of the surge should be decided by August, then by September, now, by October. In the meantime the smart politicians in Baghdad are living the life of Riley, thinking about vocations and no political movement towards reconciliation. The Arans are playing us like a violin. I don't hear other countries being obsessed with the chaos that will ensue following our withdrawal. Just like Vietnam, we shall spill more and more American blood and will mortgage not the future of our children, but the future of our great great grandchildren, because we are blindly following a man that cannot utter a complete sentence correctly. He has become the tool of the neo-cons, and we know what are their goals.

18. All you liberals want to make me puke. Quit using the same old lines over and over again...it really gets old. The people didn't vote this last election for the democrats, just against the republicans. I think that you will be very surprised at how the country really feels. They don't want to lose this war, which we will by stuffing tail and running if you radicals get your way. The american people are starting to see your party for the underhanded, weak and pathetic people you are.

19. Are you sure Mr. Edwards....keep sending the same bill to the president....the one with the pork barrel spending like the millions for peanut storage?
Steve at 5:19PM on May 3rd 2007
20. Hey "Julie," by saying "The people didn't vote this last election for the democrats, just against the republicans," what does that say about you right-wing, blank-check writing warmongers? Anything to save the oil interests, right? So what if a few more of our soldiers and marines get blown to bits, right? People with that mentality make me wanna puke!

21. Poncho has a problem with certain people and how they make their money. Let's see: it's NOT OK for John Edwards to make his money defending people who have been physically harmed by an inept doctor or hospital or pharmaceutical company ....
BUT, IT'S OK for Bush and Cheney to start a war based on lies and fabricated "intelligence" without knowing what the heck he is doing, with no exit plan, and for the sole purpose of the financial gains he and Cheney make off the oil profits. We're paying over $3.00 a gallon for gas, and home heating costs that are astronomical, our men are being killed in greater numbers than ever, this administration has DONE NOTHING ON BEHALF OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AS A WHOLE, and CORRUPTION ABOUNDS IN WASHINGTON IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ...
BUT YOUR BIG BEEF IS HOW JOHN EDWARDS MAKES HIS MONEY.
Too doggoned bad we didn't have John Edwards in the White House the past 4 years. Maybe we wouldn't have had this senseless war, and America would still be respected.

22. Steve, can you recite for us, for the sake of comparison, how much pork barrel spending was passed with the "rubber-stamp" Republican Congress over the past 6 years???? We'd like to know what some of those Republican pork projects were exactly, and we're sure there were many, since there was no one to stop them. We'd really like to know where you people allowed our tax dollars to go, besides an endless, unwinnable war in the Middle East.
