Amazing. During last night's Republican debate, three candidates signaled that they did not believe in the theory of evolution. Mike Huckabee, Tom Tancredo, and Sam Brownback. John McCain himself, who was initially asked the question, seemed almost hestitant to endorse what is perhaps the most robust scientific theory of our age. You might as well say you don't believe that planes can fly. Watch.
Of course, evolution itself is not incompatible with a belief in God, as some would have you think. But it certainly doesn't square with a literalist interpretation of the Bible. One wonders how each candidate would respond in full to this question, and whether it's the last we'll hear of it.

11. hey sioux injun,if the white man is so stupid, what are you guys since we kicked your ass into a trailor park with a casino?
Mr. Grant, does such a comment deserve even and answer? Are you a father? Become one. Then, if you wish to respond at all, talk to this 'native American' with love an understanding. He talks like a spoiled/arrogant child who has no G-d (morals)
Are we an 'educated' nation? Doubtful.

47. Well, for those who believe in the Bible to tell those who don't or never read one to read it to discredit what they believe doesn't really work. What we can say is look at creation. The thing I think of when I think of explotion is distruction. Wars have shown us that. So I find it imposible to think that things came alive w/ an explotion. Look at creation how it all works together how even to the small or unseen things benifit life. How can I looking at the intricatness of a pregnancy and birth or even just a flower think it happend of it's own accord and accidently. Isn't it easier to believe that Someone lovingly created it. That's what I think of when I hear a nice piece of music or see a beautiful painting. To say those things happend acidently would be insulting to there creator. So why do that to mine.

48. The great complexity of the very basic building blocks that evolutionsts claim necessary for the start of the life process, requires a huge leap of faith. The odds that Oxford dictionary came about as a result of an explosion in a printing press are greater than the odds of life beginning out of the "Big Bang". Tim

The invisible, supreme Creator created millions of species!

51. If you do not think that organizms evolve, then next time you get a flu shot ask your doctor for last years serum, or even one from 1965. If God created all living organizms and if they do not evolve, you should be just fine.

52. Neither Party has a worthy candidate to be President. They both follow the same old party lines which will never solve Our problems. The Republicans are always for the rich & the Democrated over spend and tax us to fill their greedy programs. Not untill We outlaw both parties will this nation improve to have a panle of several good men acting as the presidental spot to direct the good will of this nation will We ever succeed as a nation. The independant Party comes the closest to this but since Jesse Ventura was in the party they have nothing left to offer because of radical ventureism. You say this will never happen ? not untill We have been destroyed by men in power have destroyed us by usless ridiculas wars and the economy destroyed by the overpriced & valued destruction that WE are now in.We are in danger of another depression like the crash in 1929.Sincerelyt Wayne C. Harsh criticism pushes away, loving answers draw close.
Evolutionist certainly do have a brain, probably 'bigger' than mine. But it doesn't take a 'big brain' to follow the truth and be honest.
Believers in 'evolution' are either misguided, receiving money and fame, or are building their own "Tower of Babel" (Or the last two combined).

54. The way this article is presented above reinforces the obvious "liberal"-slant of the media. I am thankful that we have a few people out there (both in the GOP and in this forum) bold enough to voice their belief in the "Truth". As mentioned already, evolution is a theory...there has never been and will never be proof of it. The Bible is true...and there has been and will always be "proof" of it.
I am also thankful for our religious "freedom" in America. But I do believe that Christians are being villified, while every other religion is promoted.
To all my Christian Brothers & Sisters out there: Keep on sharing the "Truth" in boldness! You can see from this article and the responses that our voices are in the minority.
Speak louder by voting for the Presidential candidates who most closely represent the biblical view on abortion, evolution, marriage, etc. These eternal views are more important than our selfish earthly views on jobs, healthcare, taxes, etc. While these are all important and will affect us:
"Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Remember...A personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6
"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."Acts 4:12

Really interested in being a 'modern, understanding, scientific, thoughtful person?'
Read my comments #35 from b. hoffinger@aol.com
If you want to remain in darkness, I can't force you to 'see the light.'
By the way, I use a computer, go to doctors, but I believe in 'true' science.
You're free to make a religion out of science. Poor substitute. Look at the Procouncil Africanus, and Piltdown Man scandal-lying, greedy 'scientists.'

58. #54 Michele B. at 11:48AM on May 4th 2007. Correct! the media is liberally slanted. It's also dishonest! I used to think being a journalist was a noble profession--think twice! There was one story re: a shooting and not one of some 20 media voices mentioned the fact that the car owner had a gun in his/her car. It was a known fact. I'm not taking a stand on for/against private revolver ownership. I'm just commenting on the FACT that the media lies. They are anti-American! 'One naition, under G-d, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
Why force immigrants to 'pledge' allegiance to an idea we don't follow ourselves? They shouldn't be forced. They should be allowed citizenship without this. Abusive, criminal.
Let's start to practice what we preach.

59. EVOLUTION WAS ONLY A THEROY AND ONE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN PROVEN AND YET IT IS TAUGHT AS A FACT, HOW IS THAT INTELLIGENT? WHY WOULD SOMEONE RATHER BELIEVE THEY EVOLVED FROM AN ANIMAL FORM THAN THAT GOD CREATED THEM IN HIS IMAGE? DARWIN HIMSELF IN THE END FOUND THAT HE DID NOT BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION, HE BECAME A BELIEVER IN CREATION ONCE HE MET THE CREATOR. I THINK THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION ARE THE ONES WHO WILL NOT BELIEVE IN GOD AND DO NOT WANT TO BELIEVE THAT HE CREATED THEM. GOD WINKS AT THE INTELLIGENCE OF THIS WORLD, NO WONDER, WHEN WE HAVE PEOPLE TRYING SO HARD TO PRETEND THEY ARE INTELLIGENT AND YET THEY WANT TO BELIEVE THEY EVOLVED FROM APES!
SHARON at 12:10PM on May 4th 2007
60. WHY do people think belief in a 'creator' has to be mutually exclusive to the theory of Evolution.I mean if you believe in God & therefore his omipotence,omniscience,ominipresence,etc..we know of such forces like gravity(a force of nature the creator put in place for a reason),why can't you accept the possibility that this creator source/God also may have created evolution for the same purpose. So that we species can adapt & 'evolve' as our planet changes,& our needs as individuals & a society change.I mean we SEE this in nature:species developing specialities so they can survive in their little niche of the environment.I mean we've literally SEEN species adapt & change(which IS evolution by definition). And at the microscopic levels we can even observe things like viruses adapted so they can survive their environment better & longer. Our problems may arise(both with man & animalas)when we change the environment too fast for us to be able to evolve & adapt to it,thus creating our own slow apocalypse. And as I say, this doesnt lesson God/The source/the creator in anyway. In fact it shows more of the advanced consciousness & intelligence to be abke to design such a universe with built in forces of 'nature' that foresee & therefore are ready for species that may occupy the universe,or even multiverse's.To me,even more then religion,I see proof in qauntum physics,as well as many metaphysical, metalogical questions & paradox's.Things like 'non-locality',the golden mean,etc..etc.ITS EGO-that causes us to argue, even KILL in the name of God,or their concept of God,as everyone wants their veiw of 'reality' to be the 'RIGHT' veiw. And Ive seen atheist defend their belief systems as fervontly as any fundmentalist christian.I prefer the metaphor-there are many paths up the mountain, but only one peak.~Fly the Soulcraft~
