Huh? Hasn't that already happened?
A majority of members of Iraq's parliament have signed a draft bill that would require a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. soldiers from Iraq and freeze current troop levels. And again in 2006.
A timetable for withdrawal of occupation troops from Iraq. Amnesty for all insurgents who attacked U.S. and Iraqi military targets. Release of all security detainees from U.S. and Iraqi prisons. Compensation for victims of coalition military operations. These sound like the demands of some of the insurgents themselves, and in fact they are. But they're also key clauses of a national reconciliatin plan drafted by new Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki...And back in 2005.
Iraqi lawmakers from across the political spectrum called for the withdrawal of foreign forces from their country in a letter released to the media on June 19.Go figure. Maybe they just didn't say "please."

2. Bush doesn't know what he is doing. The American people have said loudly and clearly we want our troops home; the Iraqi government has said loudly and clearly, they want this occupation of their country to end. Bush does not respect either group. Rather, he is set upon his own ideas and his own goals which he has not been able to articulate to the rest of us. If this is just about laying a claim for Iraqi oil, be upfront about. At least he would be telling the truth for once.

3. And so, the question is, I guess: why are we there? Is it to save political face for an imploding regime here at home? Is it so Bush will look resolute even in the face of impending failure?
Supporters of this president's war and his escalation of it must be aware that Bush's pre-emptive strike on Iraq rates among the worst foreign policy disasters of our government's 231 year history. It must be obvious that everything about this war:
the way it was sold to the public; how it was so poorly planned and executed from the start; the total politicalization of the Department of Defence under Donald Rumnsfeld, who bullied people into team loyalty rather than seeking legitimate advice; the reliance on Chalabi and other "friends" of America to feed us lies and empty promises; the total lack of diplomatic initiatives, everything about it, has the putrid stench of profiteering and lies all sold in a jingoistic package.
So, why are we there? And why are we committing now to no commitments? If the Iraqis want us out, let's leave. Or, better yet, before they throw us out, or chase us out, let's just go.
If we don't leave soon with at least a modicum of dignity, our exit from Iraq will make our escape from Saigon look lik the "Sound of Music."

4. If it were a perfect world and they asked, I think
we would. That said, this is not a perfect world and
the President no-matter how trust-worthy he thinks
he is, would not. This is another Vietman and he
knows it. We should have learned what not to do when
we were in Vietman. The question is, why didn't we
and are we going to pay the price because of it?
Can the President answer that if asked?

5. Rep. David Dreier, R-Calif. "And we cannot and will not abandon our mission just as real progress is starting to be made." Can someone tell me what progess has been made besides that we lost 3,400 for nothing??? I am confused by this statment because I have not once hear anything good come out of this..I am rather frustated because one day I would like to know when I will see my husband again..who currently in Iraq..

6. During the First Gulf War we lost 340+ people.
When we returned I remember many 3,4, and 5 year olds waving yellow ribbons and American Flags during all those welcome home parades in 1991. Those kids are now fighting in Iraq.
I heard the same blood for oil comments in 1990-1991. We do not pump Kuwait oil. While we still have bases in Kuwait we do not occupy Kuwait.
We are in Iraq to get their oil sounds like a good argument to the average Joe and sadly many believe it. I believe the world will be a much better place if oil money is funding a free democratic Iraq than terrorist weapons. In that respect it is a war for oil.
If we leave Iraq then what??????????
Saddam used oil money to build the third largest army in the world. If we leave Iraq and allow terrorists to buy weapons with oil revenue our children will have to go back and take those weapons away from them, again, for a thrid time.
1st GW 340+
2nd GW 3,400+
3rd GW 34,000 ???
In Vietnam they were happy to see us go so they could unify their country after years of French and Japanese occupation. They had no intrest in attacking the U.S. after we left.
Like Hitler in Mein Kampf OSB had laid out his plans and its not "Can't we all just get along."

7. If we withdraw...Iraq goes into a civil war. What's an Iraqi civil war got to do with the US? A Civil war is a war between the citizens of a particular country. It has nothing to do with any OTHER country (the US in this case...). I really don't understand why people are so worried about an Iraqi civil war. If the Iraqi people want to kill each other (and leave the US out of it...), I say, let them! If they have a civil war, it's not our problem. They weren't here in the US when WE had OUR civil war...it was between the North and the South (United States North, and United States South)...we didn't have any other countries "helping" us fight each other...we did it ourselves. Let the Iraqi's take care of their own civil war, when we leave. Let them take care of their own...we need to pay more attention to our own people, the homeless, the sick, those without a chance for education...spend Billions on the US..not on a war against terrorists that are going to exist...whether we try to fight them or not.

8. We can't leave. Ever. If we were to leave one hundred years from now, Al Qaeda will follow our transports and battle groups here to attack us.
We can't leave. Ever. Al Qaeda is waiting to set up shop in Iraq so that they can plan future attacks on American soil. (They can't seem to be able to do it from anywhere else.)
We can't leave. Ever. Since the fortification of our borders is an inconceivable financial burden to put upon the taxpayers of this country, it would be more cost effective to keep Al Qaeda pinned down in Iraq for an indefinate period of time.
We just can't leave. Ever.

11. The struggle in the Middle East, including Iraq is bigger and deeper than most of us can understand. It is very ancient and more ancient than the the Prophet Mohamad. But Mohamad was the catalyst that started it all! Read your History but do not stop there. Go back to the Family of Father Abraham, where all present generation of Jews, Arabs, and Christians originated.

12. Can't leave? Why not? If I remember correctly the Iraqi's exsisted for centuries before we invaded and created havoc in that whole region and let loose the dogs of war. Which was the real purpose for the invasion in the first place.
Melvia Jackson at 6:55PM on May 24th 2007
13. To Ryan Davis: Your comment "we can't leave because a civil war will erupt" is especially stupid. There is already a civil war. A civil war will erupt whenever we leave - now or in ten years. Bush had no cmprehension of the cultural problems between the Sunnis and Shites. We gave Iraq to Iran by empowering the shites that Saddam held down by force. The damage is done and cannot be reversed by losing more of our brave soldiers, killing more innocent Iraqi's, and watsing more taxpayer dollars. This is a war for oil. Anyone that believes different moronic.

14. Lets leave... we can videotape the slaughter and play it on dvd., widescreen. Would sell a bunch.,. Just look how well the terrorist beheadings did on u tube. We haven't seen a great slaughter like this since Clinton played stupid in Africa... I suppose we need to see the consequences of this elite liberal strategy...Unfortunately it will not be just liberals who get slaughtered... it will also be the innocent...
I want those that agree with me to begin to make a list of those who think we will be safer if we loose in Iraq. After the slaughter begins, and the world gets too small for us to hide, and our children start dying ...take that list out and visit each and every one of these liberal idiots...let's see how if they are still so smug...wonder if they will be the first to convert to Islam and turn on their neighbors...I wouldn't doubt it.
It has been said by the DEMOCRATs that they support the troops and are Patriotic.... it's about time someone calls them on it... they are ANTI-AMERICAN and in another time would be in prison for helping the enemy.
Oh, but now Biden wants to invade Sudan and right away. no debate no vote ... let's just go..liberals like that war I guess, just not any war run by a Rebublican...or against terrorists.
DEMOCRATS are suicidal...problem is they want to take the rest of us with them

15. U.S being in Iraq is confussing at first it wasn't. Now, that our 'boys' and 'girls' are being killed we want to run home we want to pull out. Well wake up America! WAR means people will be killed. We will loose our loved ones. Our loved ones going into the military must relize this. I don't like it either. War is hell! But, it is one thing we must all face until we all are civilized and apparently we all aren't. God save us all
